i needhelp badly asap

my iphone shut itself off and now shows the charger plugging in to iTunes, I cannot do anything else with my iphone. I need to activate it for school please help me

iPhone 4S, iOS 8.1

Connect your iPhone to iTunes and click Restore. It will resore your device to the current firmware, iOS 8.1

ive done this and it will not restore it keeps adding more hours, no one has helped me with this so far

Use recovery mode, explained here:

If you can't update or restore your iOS device

Depending on your internet connection, the download and the installing process can take a while.
