An easy and common solution to any problems with Exchange accounts on iOS is to simply delete the account, restart the phone, then add the account back.

I am having this same issue with iPhone 5. I have upgraded to iOS 8.1 however after adding my exchange account, none of my folders or email populate. I know all of the server settings are correct as I have verified with our host. When trying to send email, I get connection error. Deleting account and recreating, did not fix issue. Is there a bug/fix that I am unaware of?

I discovered a fix ...

Log in to OWA.

Click on options (near the top right of the application); select "all options"

At the options screen select "Phone".

Find the offending device(s) in the list and select it.

Next, click on the "X" button on the toolbar next to "Start Logging".

Go back to your device and reattempt to refresh the mailbox.

This "should" send the request back to the server and it should respond and provide the folder structure and emails.

OWA = Outlook Web Access, it's the webmail portion of exchange. If you don't know what your organizations OWA URL is, contact your IT department.

Once you figure that out and login, to see if you're at the 10 device limit, go to "options" -> "see all options" -> "phone" and the number of phones associated with your account will be listed there.

I tried a few times like most of the users on this post without any luck syncing Iphone 6 IOS 8.1.2 with an old exchange server 2003 but now I sync EVERYTHING without any problems, and this steps are for my friends in the airport IT group (They know who they are, I appreciate their help always).

BE SURE THAT EXCHANGE HAS IMAP4 up and running.

The steps to configure:

1. Delete any exchange account configured previously.

2. Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts and Calendar>Add Account>Exchange and add -Exchange_email@company.com and Password then Next.

At first It wont find anything and goes to next screen where asks for

3. Server: mail.domain.com, Leave domain is optional, Your User: user, Your Password: password. *****Then It says impossible to verify account***** but now you have the SAVE option. Touch on SAVE.

4. ON on everything you want to SYNC and touch SAVE again.

5. It says account added but now you have to reconfigure. NOW it appears the name EXCHANGE on Account inside Settings>Mail,Contacts and Calendar

6. Touch on it and on the Exchange menu touch on Account>Advanced Settings> Here TURN OFF SSL. Then return back to ACCOUNT and OK. You are supposed to see the check marks on all boxes the Voilá Exchange is UP. If not RESTART your iphone. Tricky but it worked for me, hope work for you guys.

Unfortunately, removing the account, deleting the phone from OWA (Outlook Web Access) and many other options did not work for me. We recently moved from small business server to Exchange and the problem persisted for several accounts on iPhones. This solution worked for us:

1. OpenActive Directory Users and Computers.

2. On the menu at the top of the console, clickView>Advanced Features.

3. Locate and right-click the mailbox account in the console, and then clickProperties.

4. Click theSecuritytab.

5. ClickAdvanced.

6. Make sure that the check box for "Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent" is selected.

If the user is a member of certain protected groups such as Domain Administrators, it is normal for this box to be unchecked. If you are experiencing a problem with members of these protected groups you should check the permissions on the AdminSDHolder object.

You can also test the accounts connectivity with a tool provided by Microsoft athttps://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/
