There are services that use BlueTooth, but they don't require pairing. See this for more details: Bluetooth: Why can't I pair my iPhone or iPad with my computer?

Oct 23, 2014 7:01 AMby MLaeeq,So i was able to test it out in another car and it seems to work. Then i came back and tried to sync with my car and it was able to connect.. this is strange. One thing i learned is that the BMW manual has instructions to reset your bluetooth which is wrong. The steps might be right but you don't really get a notification that it has been reset

That was why I recommended that you contact the BMW dealer for assistance. Glad it appears that you have it working.
