iPad shut down when trying to update it, now I can't use it.

I connected my iPad to my computer to transfer some video files from iTunes onto it, but when I opened it in iTunes it said a new software update was available and asked if I wanted to download it. So I said yes. Then at some point in the process it said an error had occured and the download stopped. Now I can't turn the iPad on to its regular functions. Whenever I do turn it on, it simply shows a black screen with the jack thing (the one used to give it power, don't know the English name) at the bottom, and arrow above it pointing up, and above the arrow an iTunes icon that is red. I have no idea what this means other than that I might need to connect it to iTunes somehow? Anyway, I do that and try to restore the factory settings to make it function again, but every time I try this, early in the process it says that an "Unknown error (14)" occurred.

I don't know what to do here. Please help any way you can.

Hello BjornRasmussen,

Sorry that you are having issues with restoring your iPad. To get it resolved, take a look at the articles below and look at the USB related alerts as error 14 is an issue with the USB connection. Try different cables as well as different ports on your computer.
