itunes 12 cannot connect to iPad just updated to 8.1

Running iTunes 12 on Yosemite (10.10). I updated my iPhone 5 to 8.1 and iTunes would not recognize my iPhone until I rebooted my iMac.

I updated my iPad 2 last night to iOS 8.1. The iPad prompts to trust the iMac but iTunes does not recognize the iPad. It never shows up. I really don't want to have to reboot my computer for each device I updated to 8.1.

Here are some console logs that 'may' be pertinent. I can't find anything in apple communities or a web search about them.
