sudently after a restart machine will hang in the login screen. machines boots to login window normally after entering the password one progress bar shows and hangs in the middle of it
Done PRAM, Disk repair etc no use

If you get through the login window to your desktop, will it eventually bring up the menu bar if you wait long enough? Mine was taking 3-5 minutes for a day or so. Then I did Repair Permissions and restart couple times until I finally got things straightened out and now it runs fine.
@Manoj the exact thing is happening with my mac too stops buffering wrt in the middle i have left it to buffer all night but no use i have tried to repair seems no use.
You might want to restart holding the Command and R keys, from Utilities on the menu bar, choose Install Mac OS X to reinstall Yosemite...that should fix things that may be broken.
that was my next action, but i was wondering if i will lose my data ?. unfortunately i don't have any backups.

if i start it in verbros mode it will stop at USBMSB
AM UNABLE CHANGE THE UESR ALSO ONLY ONE USER IT SHOWS
I have few doubts if i re install is it will affect my data ?
internet connection is required for the re installation ?
@manoj i finally found this link http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3878?viewlocale=en_US form what i read it doesn't effect our files or data and the link also talks about recovery
You'll notice the booting up doesn't actually take a long time, until you login.
I think the progress bar is the actual boot - up until then the rest is pre-loaded.

@manoj i was successfully able to reinstall the OS and it works fine. And all the data is intact(took me where i left it ;) ) ! But it took me almost 2hr+ for the whole process so have patience good luck.
is it normal for that bar to show up every time i put in my password for Yosemite, or is there some underlying issue with my laptop? it always loads completly for me and never really takes too long.
Well, I've had this everytime I logged in, and found that boot up time is actually quicker, So I think this is normal.
I think that Apple has made the boot up files smaller so that it easier and quicker to execute, meaning a quick boot.
However the ACTUAL files load up when the password is inputted.
I think this is a security prevention method. (Just a theory! Yosemite is new, remember that!)
They must've found that hackers can exploit the boot files and change vital files so that the boot completely skips the user password login.
This method prevents the hackers by only letting them access the little data the boot has, while the rest is secured behind your password.
