Q: Wifi Problems with Yosemite

When I upgraded to Yosemite for some reason my wifi was messing up. I would show that it was connected but when ever I would go onto safari and or something that needed wifi it would just load. It would not load anything on safari. The only way that I can get wifi is to restart my Mac Book Air. But it is not a guaranteed fix it cuts out all the time. But it says its connected I am confused and frustrated at this because I don't want to keep on restarting my computer. Please Help me.

    OK, I have a solution via one of these threads that FINALLY worked for me.  Everything is up, including Safari, and speeds are great.  I have a Macbook Pro with Retina Display and I'm connecting to a public network at my workplace:

     

    1.  Go to system preferences

    2.  Go to network

    3.  Hit the little cog icon

    4.  Choose "set service order" and move wifi to the top.

    5.  Press Apply

     

    I forget if I restarted.  If you don't see a quick improvement, do that.

    How long have you been up

    Have you rebooted or had to reconnect

     

    Too many people are saying their method works, only to find it doesn't

    Do not be to hasty

     

    You may have to do that every time you re boot

     

    Presently apple are saying there is no problem ???????????

     

    Apple get this fixed. For the High Cost of Apple Products and mass profits The customer should not have to put up with these problems.

    Nope - I am not on a company network and my system settings were all in order, and still...I get booted off the internet every five minutes or less.

    Are they KIDDING ME!!! They should be sitting where I am sitting, and if there is no problem, then they should tell us how those of us who are apparently delusional or just making stuff up because we like to go through these horrors, can go back to Mavericks.

    I've been up for several hours since I used the solution I posted.  I can't remembereif I rebooted right after I did it but I haven't had to since, nor have I had to reconnect  to wifi. 

     

    Believe me, this is the ONLY solution I could fiind that worked for me after two fulll days of trying virtually everything else posted except re-installing Maverick from Time Machine or re-installing Yosemite. 

     

    I agree I would prefer to have Apple fix this but meanwhile thought I'd let people know what worked for me.

    Fi problems | Macworld

    I did a clean installation on a mid-2012 MBPro and now WiFi loses connection to the internet each time the computer goes to sleep. I have to restart the whole Mac and then it is fine, but restarting each time I want to use WiFi is not exactly optimal!!


    I Am using a time capsule, and have tried both frequencies. 


    My iPhone and iPad continue to work fine.


    All was fine under Mavericks, but I did so much work on the clean install and re-installing all my software etc I am reluctant to revert. Hopefully there will be a fix VERY soon.

    I am having the same problem. after installing my Mac Air Yosemite mid-2012 drops the connection with the wifi all the time. would help.

    I upgraded to yosemeit last week and I have continually problems with my wifi connection: every 10 minutes seems to be disconnected: web sites do not upload, skype doesn't work, everything that depends on the internet connection simply doesn't work although apparently my computer (Macbook Air 2013) seems to be connected. I have to restart all the time the wifi connection in order to keep connected. Very annoying and disappointing. I hope that Apple is going to fix this issue quickly... It is really not excusable that such connection problems occur in the "most modern operating system of the world"... just a shame.

    And a newly discovered problem to report:

    On attempting to export a render from SketchUp, I keep getting a message from something called "Atos" requesting permission to debug. Regardless of whether I say yes or cancel, SketchUp crashes.

     

    I was about to post the question as to why on a SketchUp forum, and to ask if thought it was an SU bug of some sort, but decided instead to Google the word Atos to see if I could find out what it was? Apparently, and I did not read the entire article, it is something connected to Apple's operating system, and so therefore there is now one other "fail" to add to the entire Yosemite nightmare.

     

    Everyday my working on a Yosemite machine is making it increasingly impossible for me to make a living. If I say cancel, I mean cancel, I don't mean Oh please crash my programme!

    When i upgraded to yosemite my wifi often disconnected and the wifi speed was awful... but today i found the problem and i solved it....turn off your bluetooth and you will see that the wifi speed is better... with bluetooth and a magic mouse my speed was 2mbit down and 3mbit upload and without bluetooth i have 20download and 5upload.. so well...this is kinda ****** up to work without a magic mouse but i hope apple will quickly find a way to fix this BUG!!!!!!!!

    I Also started to experience network disconnect since the previous operating system and called apple numerous times to change And tweet my airport base station, after cox service found no problem and sold me a new modem. Then Apple genius swapped out the airport base station and. Not much different.

    i Aldo wondered if my Direct TV going into the airport and an ATT cell boaster could be causing the problem, but read a few weeks ago on my iPad that  others are experiencing the same problem! This is outrageous! I tried some tweaking of the wifi settings and needed to call HP to re inject my wireless offce jet 8600 plus, several times. It's also possible this occurs more often than I notice as it's not for work. Disappointed Apple geniuses and support doesn't inform users

    Thanks bearwife. Your suggestion did work for me at least for now. However I spent two days and tried several other things suggested on line. They seemed to work for a while and stopped later on. It is really upsetting but your solution brought my internet connection back immediately.

    Good news!  I'm still fine too... Lost most WiFi speed after the post Yosemite upgrade again, but gradually working through the solutions posted on this thread eventually got me up again.  I give thanks for Apple users who take the trouble to share solutions not just gripes.

    Bad news. The solution lasted only a day. Now it is worse. I canceled all options, except WiFi and still cannot connect with internet. Any ideas what to do next?

    Ever since I upgraded to Yosemite on my MacBook Pro, I have problems with WiFi cutting out. It will happen at irregular times. I can temporarily remedy the problem by shutting off WiFi then turning it back on. I also have temporarily corrected the problem by re-booting. It predominately happens on my MacBook Pro since I use it at Starbucks with Starbucks Google WiFi. My iMac on my home WiFi network, with Yosemite, is stable.

     

    Apple or others, please help since I have experienced annoying, time losing problems in this regard. Thanks.
