Q: Apple Play vs Apple TV

I want to do presentations from my iMac and iPad to Apple TV so do I need to buy software for each device if I want to do a presentation to the Apple TV?

No need to buy anything. Airplay is already built in to the Operating systems of both devices.
Use AirPlay to wirelessly stream content from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
