tune up not working with itunes 12

I've been using tune up version 2.4 without issue for months but since I upgraded to iTunes 12 yesterday, it keeps saying that my songs are "an unsupported format and can't be processed" whenever I try to 'clean' them. All my tracks are MP3s and it doesn't work with tracks that I had previously cleaned through them. Is there a fix for this? I did see on their website that they don't support the beta version of iTunes 12 but that obviously shouldn't apply now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I paid for the Tuneup one-time-purchase (for 2.4.8) about 4 months ago which should be good for life and have contacted Tuneup customer support 3-4x but they still have yet to give me a free upgrade to 2.5. They keep sending me a link with options to download a "free" trial version of 2.5 (good for only 30 or so song fixes) or... the option to buy the 2.5 version. So, even though I bought the program with the understanding that it included free upgrades for life, they are suggesting I have to keep re-buying the program anytime it needs an upgrade? Don't forget that I paid for 2.4.8 plus any future required upgrades. Using the "check for updates" option in the Tuneup control bar gets a message that an error occurred while trying to upgrade, please try again later. I've sent this message to Tuneup 3-4x now and they keep responding with the same link to buy the program again. I'm posting this so others can beware.

DO NOT INSTALL 2.5 or 2.5.0.1

Installed 2.5.0.1 which was to fix 2.5 bugs and was immediately flagged by my AV for containing a Trojan Virus.

I had originally installed 2.5 when TuneUp told me there was a new update. Did not realize that software that I had paid for continuous updates would install adware and modify my browser settings. When 2.5.0.1 was released, I made sure not install the offending add-ons, but I got a trojan virus instead.

I have since completely uninstalled TuneUp and will never use it again.

Then we should start a class action! I'd like to get my money back if they're not supporting a clean version of this product. Worked great for me over a year ago but thanks to @Northerrut I now understand why I keep getting pushed into a Yahoo search engine an ads are popping up all over the freaking place!!! When I tried to download the most recent version my Avast virus protection software warns me it's a virus and phishing website. It's really too bad cause I used to love this app.

The "free trial version" is the full version, but may require you to reenter your activation code to get full functionality - hit the "upgrade button" at the bottom of its window. Also, in my case, it warned me that this was an install on a new computer [it is not] and counted it against the 5 free transfers.

*UPDATE* TuneUp is no more, figures http://www.tuneupmedia.com:8080/company-info

I've nothing but problems since the update to 2.5.1. I've opened two tickets about this issue with the tuneup window not showing up. I've had to right click and maximize the window to show the application. Once register the program it sits on syncing the library. Many restarts, uninstalls, re-installs... I'm done with tuneup and I think tuneup is done as company. They are so unprofessional with their attention to detail, supporting their product and maintaining their production.

My 1st ticket http://support.tuneupmedia.com/hc/en-us/requests/164658

ME:

"Hidden TuneUp Window until you right click > maximize window. Once the window is in view the application is stuck on updating the library. Uninstalled Version 2.5 and re-installed same results."

TuneUp Support:

"Hello,

My 2nd ticket http://support.tuneupmedia.com/hc/en-us/requests/165560

ME:

"After downgrading iTunes, removing tuneup and re-installing ver 2.4 the again with 2.5. I still cannot see the tuneup application. No matter how I resize iTunes its not visible. My video card is not too old so this didnt work for me https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1784?locale=en_US"

They even acknolodged the problem which is great but no mention of iTunes having this issue. http://support.tuneupmedia.com/hc/en-us/articles/200439638-I-installed-TuneUp-bu t-it-doesn-t-appear-to-be-loading-anywhere-What-do-I-do-

They offer a 2.4.8 download when actually its 2.5.0.1 and force you to update if you use an earlier version (which I save the last version of every program for this reason) http://support.tuneupmedia.com/hc/en-us/articles/201628296-Download-TuneUp-Versi on-2-4-8-EN-

Guess I'll try TidyMyMusic http://www.wondershare.com/multimedia-software/tidymymusic.html

It seems to me that Tuneup now comes bundled with a Trojan/Virus/Adware for Mac component called Spigot. I've submitted numerous requests to their support site regarding this, but have so far not had any constructive reply, other than something along the following lines:

We have officially released the 2.5.3 version !!!

The new version provides the OSX 10.10 and iTunes 12 application fix and it is available on our website www.tuneupmedia.com

Just click the "Download free trial" button and the new version will be downloaded.

Best Regards,
TuneUp | Support

This merely results in downloading the compromised installer, which seems to be intentional at this point. My advice is to stay away and consider using one of the great free music metadata tools out there like http://picard.musicbrainz.org/
