Oct 22, 2014 2:20 PM in response to abourne10by Kid Kique,If you log in as a different user, iTunes will work fine, even when using the same AppleID. It's a user preference that was messed up during the upgrade to iTunes 12. I've been working with Apple on this by phone for a few days now, and their engineers will have their 'results' of my case by the end of the week. Re: Getting error 'user not registered for online use' when getting track names on iTunes 12.0.1 on OSX Yosemite
That thread has some temporary fixes in it (such as deleting a few preference files or creating a new user account) to hold you over until a true fix is offered.

Oct 22, 2014 7:07 PM in response to abourne10by Kid Kique,I quit iTunes, deleted two files (iTunes.plist and gracenote.plist in Finder>Go>Library>User>'user name'>Preferences) and reinstalled the newest version of iTunes, restarted the computer and then when I opened iTunes it worked, but I too had to click Options>Get Track Names. Works for me!

Nov 23, 2014 7:12 AM in response to Kid Kiqueby Bill Fran,I've upgraded to Yosemite and installed the latest update to iTunes and am having the same problem. When I go to find these two files as suggested above iTunes.plist and gracenote.plist are nowhere to be found. Doing a search for them comes up with nothing as well.

Dec 26, 2014 12:32 PM in response to Bill Franby JohnCanadian,Same as Bill Fran I am unable to find those two files(itunes.plist and gracenote.plist) anywhere. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Jul 31, 2015 3:06 AM in response to JohnCanadianby maclariz,Same problem here. Am trying to rip 1 or 2 new CDs, and reimport some older ones at better quality. None will give track names now, including ones that worked before, a few years back. Is anyone from Apple listening with an idea about what is going on? This seems to be an increasingly common problem.

Sep 15, 2015 4:56 AM in response to maclarizby garvinfromkenosha, yep. those 2 files don't exist. what's the work around here?

Sep 15, 2015 5:03 AM in response to maclarizby garvinfromkenosha,I think Apple is more concerned with the latest phone color. I will be on the phone with them later today. If I have a solution I will post it here.

Sep 15, 2015 11:25 AM in response to abourne10by moniia,I just found that I have similar problem - iTunes 12.2.2 sends me this note when I try to get tracks:
"Unable to connect to the CDDB server. The network cannot be reached.
Make sure your Internet connection is active and your network settings are correct, then try again."
Needless to say, I have perfectly well working internet connection (the CD is going in while I'm writing that) and nothing else has a problem with working...

Sep 16, 2015 12:52 PM in response to abourne10by garvinfromkenosha, well just upgraded to iTunes 12.3 and guess what.....still the same problem. Thought they might have fixed the bug causing this but not surprising I guess, they didn't. Will continue to work at it. If anyone finds a fix to this please post.

Jul 10, 2016 9:00 AM in response to abourne10by wiigout,I had the same problem - found out the hard way that you need to browse to your specific user library folder. The general user library folder didn't work for me. I found the two .plist files that needed to be deleted and then signed back into iTunes. Thanks for all of your help everyone!

Oct 23, 2016 11:09 PM in response to wiigoutby rusty kiwi,Solution works...
Still an issue with itunes 12.5.1.21 while I could only find itunes.plist in my library preferences folder, no sign of gracenotes.plist. Deleting itunes.plist and restarting itunes did result in track names working again :-)
