Verification Code not appearing on my Macbook

I have updated both my iPhone 5s and Macbook Pro to the latest updates. I have followed all the instructions provided in order to connect my phone and Macbook for SMS text messaging.

As I select Text Message Forwarding under the Message settings on my iPhone, the window pops up for me to type in the 6-digit code. The iMessage app on my Macbook bounces and opens up but no verification code pops up. It just opens what my iMessage app looked like last time I was using it.

And I am stuck from there on in.

Any ideas?

Hi,

What happens if the App is open first on the Mac so it is not waiting ?

Are you sure after the updates that the iPhone is joining the LAN properly ?
