Feb 22, 2015 6:55 PM in response to colinw9by jsg68,I have the intermittent version of this issue, with multiple magic mice, used with multiple systems -- mid-2012 MBA, and an iMac 27 I just got a few months ago -- though it's more frequent on the MBA.
Running 10.10.2 on both systems, and still see the issue, intermittently. Have yet to find anything I could be confident is even an temporary cure. (i.e., the problem will go away, but I couldn't be confident that anything I've tried, after following various advice found via google, is actually responsible for it going away, vs. just dumb luck.)
Seems this is a pretty widely-experienced issue. Doesn't anybody from apple give a ****?

Feb 22, 2015 11:57 PM in response to jsg68by colinw9,From my issues 10.10.2 update sorted it out. I have had no further problem with the mouse. I have two running on different machines.
I do think Apple care but it would be nice to have them acknowledge problems and when they will be fixed as it would prevent a lot of time wasted corresponding.

Feb 23, 2015 12:50 PM in response to jsg68by chaseforfeit,Finally, it seems that someone understands what I'm experiencing. I haven't found a resolve yet - and buying different bluetooth peripherals isn't the answer (I swear people just copy and paste that reply). I have two machines - one new MBP, and an older MBP - the older one works perfect with the bluetooth keyboard and Magic Mouse.
I too am on 10.10.2.. My issue still hasn't fixed itself. I can get it to fix for a while, then it soon becomes sluggish again. Killer on workflow.
I believe Apple does know about the issue (even though when I call in they tell me its the first they're hearing of it). I also believe there to be no fix for the problem because of how the hardware is built. The two transmitters / receivers for WiFi and Bluetooth interfere with each other because they're simply too close.
If you guys find a stable fix past this last OS update, please let me know. I've done every reset possible, refreshed my machine a dozen times, and have tried multiple different Mouse / Keyboard combos at the agency. I can't get it to work the way it used to before I paid for this new machine.

Feb 23, 2015 1:37 PM in response to chaseforfeitby jsg68,I would be very skeptical that this is a wifi vs. bluetooth conflict. The two protocols do use the same band, but they are designed to limit interference so that it is not problematic. Having sustained, user-perceptible interference should not be possible--and certainly shouldn't be intermittent if it were. And having transmitters/receivers close together is not likely to be a problem. In fact, I would bet that Apple is using a single broadcom chipset for wifi and bluetooth, using common antennas.
I don't think this issue is about RF interference at all -- but if you suspect it is, the first test of that theory would be to turn off wifi on your MBP (e.g., switch to ethernet) and see if the issue is eliminated.

Feb 23, 2015 1:43 PM in response to jsg68by chaseforfeit,I'd hope it isn't the culprit - It's just that last year (or 2 years now.. whenever I got this machine) I had to escalate the problem up to senior Apple techs. They spent months (literally months) going back and forth with me sending the data packages, system diagnostics, etc. The "Wifi interfering with Bluetooth" response was given to me by Apple.
I never heard from them again, then eventually there was an update to the last OS that fixed it. I went happy for quite a while - until Yosemite came along, and I can't seem to find a solution again. I'd roll back to Lion.. but I really do love Yosemite. I've just been dealing with the issue day to day. Usually when it gets unbearable, I shut the machine and devices down entirely.. start new.

Feb 23, 2015 2:15 PM in response to Breadman86by SeaBassss,I have the same issue. Sorry if I'm hi-jacking the thread.
I have a new Mac Pro, Mavericks, Magic Mouse, about 2 meters away from the computer.
Sluggish for a couple of seconds about once a minute. It started like 2-3 weeks ago. Very random.
I've tried 3 different MS and the batteries are full. I have the computer at the bottom of a rack and close to it is an external harddrive, a furman power balancer unit and a couple of mic pre-amps. Do you think that could be anything that interferes?
Like I said it worked before so it's really weird.
What's the max distance for blue tooth and is there an extender I can get?
Thanks!

Feb 24, 2015 3:28 PM in response to Breadman86by j15ben,I've been having same issue for a few weeks now, trackpad and magic mouse scrolling very jittery and jumping all over the place- not nearly as smooth as it was previously. Not sure how many people this applies to, but I have BetterSnapTool installed and found that it was the culprit. I tried everything that I could find from digging through posts on multiple sites and nothing seemed to work. I tried disabling BetterSnapTool and saw an immediate difference, scrolling is now smooth as butter!

Feb 24, 2015 7:12 PM in response to chaseforfeitby jsg68,Sounds like it might have been a phone tech inventing his own theory.
I confirmed that on my MBA, it's a single broadcom module that is used for both wifi and bluetooth -- BCM 943224. See step 10 here:
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/MacBook+Air+13-Inch+Mid+2012+Teardown/9457
(I actually have an 11 inch, but I'm sure this module is the same between them.)
Step 3 shows the module in my late 2013 imac 27, also based on broadcom wifi and bluetooth parts:
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/iMac+Intel+27-Inch+EMC+2639+Teardown/17828
Looks like this is nearly identical to the mid-2013 MBA and late 2013 MBP Retina:
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/MacBook+Air+11-Inch+Mid+2013+Teardown/15078
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/MacBook+Pro+13-Inch+Retina+Display+Late+2013+Tea rdown/18695
The same basic design is almost certainly used across all of Apples desktops, laptops, tablets and phones. It would be awfully strange if they didn't do an awful lot of validation that wifi and bluetooth peacefully coexisted. And really strange if it produced a problem that was only a problem (or much worse) for the magic mouse, in particular.

Feb 24, 2015 7:17 PM in response to SeaBassssby jsg68,My own issues are no where near as regular as once per minute. It's more like having a period of problematic behavior, and then going for days or even a few weeks before seeing it again. So I'd guess your issue is different than mine.
I'd be skeptical that any of the devices you mention would be a source of interference, and frankly, 2 meters is already pretty far away in terms of interference concerns. But these devices should be class 2 bluetooth with a range of approximately 10 meters (free space) if you want to move stuff further away. I'm not aware of any kind of bluetooth extension device on the market.

Feb 24, 2015 7:32 PM in response to jsg68by chaseforfeit,I Guess I should have mentioned that it's both bluetooth devices that I have issues with: apple keyboard and mouse. I just notice it quicker and more frequent with the mouse as I'm typically doing design work, and I suppose i frequent that device over the keyboard.
Again, I can't speculate - bottom line is that something isn't working right.

Feb 25, 2015 12:33 PM in response to chaseforfeitby chaseforfeit,APPLE please chime in and fix this - it's been almost a year. There's clearly a community of people expressing frustration with this issue. Just acknowledge it - write SOMETHING anything at all - as long as it's not the stock "reset PRAM".

Mar 10, 2015 7:20 AM in response to Breadman86by eural,I have a similar problem and I am trying to see the actual reason.
When I'm alone with no magic mice around me, my magic mouse works fine.
But somehow one of the magic mice in my office somehow interferes with it.
Could not yet put my finger on which though.
I couldn't find a setting to adjust the communication channel/frequency for the mice.
Is there one?
Archie

Mar 24, 2015 10:04 AM in response to chaseforfeitby video_newbie,I have not tried this solution on my Mac Pro with laggy magic mouse. But, I was having another problem with spontaneous disconnects of my mouse and keyboard. What I found on a hunch is when I turned wifi off I noticed in my bluetooth preference pane that the mouse reconnected almost immediately. I hit a key on the keyboard and it reconnected right away. I turned wifi back on and the mouse and keyboard continued to work. The statistical significance of this test is ONE sample. So, nadda significance. But, I will try to remember for the next time this happens. I also have major lag issues with my magic mouse and Mac Pro at home ... I will try to remember to cycle wifi when I have that problem again and see what happens.
Sounds like a driver problem to me. Some weird interaction between the wifi driver and the bluetooth driver. I suspect all the discussion about the channel, batteries, etc is a red hering. Apple has a driver problem that needs to be fixed. This problem is a big irritation.
I would appreciate anyone who has this problem to turn wifi off then test your mouse and keyboard then turn wifi back on and test mouse and keyboard again and post result here. Thanks.

Mar 24, 2015 7:15 PM in response to video_newbieby Joseph Polk1,New MBP 13". This doesn't have anything to do with WIFI or BT that I can tell. To test, I plugged in a USB wireless mouse. Same effect. I thought my issue was my profile so I completely re-installed Yosemite and started with a fresh profile. The laptop has been up about 30-36hrs and the problem appears. I don't have this issue on my Mac Mini and never saw it on my Macbook Air. This is the first Macbook I regret buying. I've had a number of oddities. I think the new profile will solve some of them but after seeing this issue re-appear I'm not so sure.
