Q: Is Windows 8.1 Pro for Students supported for use with Boot Camp?

You need a Windows machine to run the .exe that downloads the ISO/USB. I would recommend downloading both types of media (ISO/DVD and USB) and keep both copies, as a contingency, if either is damaged or lost.

It would be a quick test if you run BA and provide the ISO as input, it will either accept it or reject and you will know immediately. If it is accepted, it can be installed.

Yeah, I am running Windows 8.1 Pro for Students which i got from JourneyEd which goes to Microsoft for $69. It works fine on my MacBook Pro 15.4" running that and Mac OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks.

How did you get drivers to work? Mine say they are unsupported??

You download the drivers from bootcamp assistant on to a usb flash drive and

after installation use the flash drive with the bootcamp drivers to install.

BCA should download appropriate drivers to a USB. You can run setup.exe in the Bootcamp folder, which should also let you repair drivers, if necessary.

I understand the first method and will retry that but where is my bootcamp folder on my windows OS

You need to do this from the OS X side, and have a blank USB2 flash disk. There is no BCA on the Windows side. Older drivers can be manually downloaded from Windows side, but the 2014 Macs can only use BCA.
