Not working since Yosemite upgrade

I have been using my external iSight on a mid-2011 Mac mini through the Firewire 400 port of my old Cinema Display.

All worked well until I upgraded to Yosemite a few days ago.

Since then the camera is not recognized on any applications (Facetime etc..) and is not showing on the system profile. In fact only the USB hub from the Cinema display is showing, no Firewire connection except the Firewire 800 port on the Mac mini which I do not use.

Any idea before I go and buy a 400-800 Firewire adapter ?

My iSight is ok with FaceTime video and audio(mic is work),but not ok with a FaceTime call through my iPhone(mic is work,but people I'm calling can't hear anything)

Hi,

How is your iSight connected ? Firewire 400 on iMac ? Through 400/800 adaptor ?

If restarting Mac does not solve your problem, try the relevant suggestions from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090.

The "reset" suggested there often restores camera function.

Don't connect any other Firewire device while you are troubleshooting your old Firewire iSight working.

Firewire iSight can be intolerant of shared Firewire connections.

Thanks for the tip, I will check later today and report back.

What I find odd, is that I have not touched any of the connection before upgrading. Camera and cable was fine and should still be.

The reset in your link only relates to internal iSight. I guess I will try it anyway.

Ok. I have tried and reset the SMC (5 second press on power button of the Mac mini while unplug) but that did not work.

I have no other Firewire device connected.

I also went and ask a Genius at an Apple Store...they probably thought I was a dinosaur and were barely aware that iSight cameras once where not internal.

They asked me to come by with the camera to see if it would work on one of their machine. Why not but not sure they still have a machine with a firewire 400 connection...

Any other idea welcome.

Just to clarify : I checked the camera on an old white 13" Macbook. Works like a charm.

Definitely an issue with the Firewire port
