Kodak All in One Printer won't work after OS X Yosemite 10.10 update

Hi

Can anyone help with regards getting my printer working again.

I updated my iMac to the new OS X Yosemite 10.10 system but since then my Kodak 5500 AiO printer has not worked.

The scanner and photocopy work fine but it won't print documents from the computer.

When I try to re-load the original Kodak software (from the original disc provided with the printer) I get this message.

Can anyone help me get my printer working again.

Thanks

There are a number of reports of the same issue all over the web, it is a Kodak printer driver problem. Kodak have not developed a Yosemite-compatible printer driver for their AIO printers, their R&D team are "working" on it but as yet there isn't one available. Wifi and direct connection are both affected. If you have an older Mac available don't upgrade to Yosemite (Mavericks & all previous OS X systems are compatible with the most up-to-date Kodak AIO driver available) and port the documents you want to print over to it. If you haven't, it looks like your fate is in the hands of the Kodak developers............

Apologies for the delay. Go to support services on the kodak website and raise the issue with online chat with my previous header (Why can't I print after I upgrade to MAC OS 10.10 (Yosemite)). A qualified kodak engineer will happily take you remotely through the process to correct the problem. Any further issues, please address to Kodak. This is a short term fix and worked seamlessly for my AiO ESP 7250 running Yosemite. Your model may have different parameters. Anyway I have been advised that this issue is known to kodak and this is the current working solution to resolve a cups problem with Yosemite. You must have your printer software reinstalled in the system library printer folder, where you will see, possibly a whole load of redundant printer drivers. I am not affiliated in any way with Kodak past or present. Let me know how you get on. Best.

Follow this process if it helps:

Download the latest AiO software from Kodak.

Deinstall all software.

Re-install the AiO software at this location:

Macintosh HD/Library/Printers/

To view the path:

Select 'Go' on desktop and select 'Computer'

Select 'Macintosh HD'

Select 'Library'

Select 'Printers'

This is the path to install your AiO Printer software.

Install software to this path.

Then type in the script posted online at Kodak where "lindaterry" will obviously be replaced by your own hard disk name

When asked for the password type in the main (admin) password

It will remain static. i.e., will not show what you type in.

Press return and type in the remainder script.

Then go to Settings

Select Printers & Scanners

Add ➕ , select your printer and it should show up in the left hand pane.

If not, contact Kodak for remote support.

Do the following steps to address the issue:

  1. Go to Spotlight, then enter Terminal and press Enter.
    The terminal window/program opens.
  2. Enter sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf' in the terminal.
  3. Enter your system OS login password when prompted.
Note: The password you enter will not appear, which is normal. Be sure to enter the correct password.
  4. Enter sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsdYour screen will look similar to the following:
Last login: Mon Nov 10 16:34:57 on console
    Macintosh:~ lindaterry$ sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf'
    Password:
    Sorry, try again.
    Password:
    Macintosh:~ lindaterry$ sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd
    Macintosh:~ lindaterry$
  5. Try to print again.
