Yosemite Screen Saver Problem

Since upgrading to Yosemite, I am having a problem with my Screen Saver.

I use my iPhoto Library as a source, but the problem is that the Screen Saver keeps reverting back to the Nat Geo pictures (default?).

A few others on this forum are having the same problem, but I haven't seen any suggestions that work.

I tried repairing permissions as suggested elsewhere. The problem persists.

I tried deleting the "apple.com.screensaver.plist" file as suggested somewhere else. The problem persists.

My uneducated guess is that this issue will be addressed in a future update.

I guess we all just have to wait.

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Go to finder and find Screen Saver - you will find the default folder in one of two that show up. Inside of Default folder you will find folders - 1-national geographic and three other folders. Make a new folder on desktop and name it 0-MyScreenSaver - copy jpg's you want in screen folder in that folder and drag the folder to the default folder - as you do that, you will probably be asked by computer for password to change the finder - enter it and ok it. Then change the number of the National Geographic folder to 4-National Geographic. Then change 0-MyScreenSaver to 1-MyScreenSaver.

Then delete the #4 folder.. Then go into preferences and select screen saver and choose 1-MyScreenSaver. And when you feel bold - delete the 2, 3, and 4 folders.

I have the same proble. I tried many of the fixes but no success, but the problem wasn't limited to iPhoto albums but to any folder of pictures I wanted to use outside the System folder. The one commoon denominator was that all my images were on an external LaCie 3Tb FireWire 800 drive (fastest connection on my mid-2009 iMac). Once the drive spun up (and I reset the screensaver) the screensaver would use the folder I set. When the computer went to sleep the drive would sleep too (or at least stop reading). When the computer woke up the screensaver would reset because the drive wouldn't wake up fast enough for the screensaver preference panel to find it and would set the screensaver. Same thing after a boot or reboot. This periodically happens for the internal drive too. the workaround I found was to have the images folder on the external drive and the screensaver pref panel open when I login by making sure the "Reopen windows when logging back in" box is checked. this wakes up the external drive so that the screensaver pref pane can find it. I hope that helps someone. It is a bit of a convoluted workaround for something that should not be a problem. And don't get me started on the login screen annoyance.
