Q: Apple Pay: The last 4 digits of my device account number is not showing up on my phone.

My credit card company needs the last 4 digits of my device account number, and only ***** (stars) show up under my divice account number.  I have 8.1 installed, and have tried restarting my phone.  Any suggestions on how to get my divice account number to show?

iPhone 6, iOS 8.1

The number can be seen by opening Passbook and then tap the Information Symbol at the bottom right of the iPhone screen (a circle with an i in it).  The scroll down below any transaction that show until you see the Unique Device ID Number.  That Number may also show on your Register Receipt at the store next to your Credit Card Company's Name.

On my iPhone 6, once I'm in Settings > Passbook & Apple Pay, I don't see any information icon at the bottom right of the screen. And if I select a card there, I still don't see any such icon.

Does it appear only after you've begun an Apple Pay transaction?

    Hello MurrayE,

You need to be accessing your card through Passbook app and not through settings in order to see "information" icon and last four digits of your DAN. Hope this helps.

And how does one access the Passbook app? I don't find it among my iPhone's icons. Does it only appear when you use an Apple Pay terminal (or use Apple Pay within some on-line store's app)?

Passbook app is always on your iPhone- it can not even be deleted. Here is what it looks like- 4 colored icon (I pointed an arrow to it). Try searching your apps for it.

Nope, tried that (I found the Passbook app, which I had shoved into a group). When I tap the Information icon for my card, it just takes me to a screen that (1) has a link to my card's mobile app; and (2) shows recent transactions.

Do the DAN digits show only when you actually start to make an Apple Pay transaction?

(I'm trying to figure out how this works before I encounter a situation in a store where I need those digits. I tried asking Verizon Wireless tech support, and they referred me to AppleCare! I tried phoning AppleCare but got into a long wait-time call queue.

Really strange that this seems to be so obscure!

It sounds like your bank requires additional authentication before you can use Apple Pay. It does not look like there was a token activated for your wallet. When you are in your Passbook app- does it say under the card that your card is activated and ready for Apple Pay? If it does not, contact your Bank to get DAN (token) activated.

DAN will show once token is provisioned and activated, no need for transaction to occur first.

    Hope this helps.

My credit card is obviously activated, as I was just able to use Apple Pay with it at a store (where they didn't ask for any DAN code). When I view the card in Passbook, it says nothing about whether it's been activated, one way or the other, but obviously the card is working for Apple Pay.

But I just did find the DAN, way, way down at the very bottom of the Info page, below the whole list of recent transactions.

Nowhere in any documentation I've seen does it indicate that this would be at the very bottom and one has to scroll so far down. Does seem like an unfriendly place to put it,

My apple pay has been activated and in passbook is says my debit card is ready for Apple Pay.  In passbook, when I click on the information icon in the bottom left, the devise account number is just dots so I can't see the number.  How can I see the number?  I have not used apple yet.

Try reducing the size of your font so the last four numbers can be seen when accessing the credit card DAN in passbook.  Should be able to see them.

Thank you SO much for this tip.  I have a 5S which of course has a narrower screen and I couldn't see any part of the number, just ". . .".  I now have those numbers saved in 1 password so that I won't have to permanently change the font size on my phone.

They really should make that section clickable so that it will expand and show the information on the narrower phone.
