Q: Airplay Lags when streaming from late 2013 MBP to ATV 3rd Generation

My late 2013 MBP (8GB Ram) is running Yosemite. My 3rd generation ATV has the latest update.

When streaming from my MBP to ATV over wifi (or ATV connected via ethernet), the audio and video skip and freeze. This does not happen with my iPhone 6 running iOS 8.2.

Any suggestions? I've been reading that Macs are sort of notorious for not playing well with airplay and ATV with video, etc.

Do I just need to buy HUDtube in the Mac App Store?

One more thing: this issue mainly occurs when I try to stream a YouTube video from my Mac to ATV (I don this because navigating and searching for YouTube videos on ATV is a major pain). Often times, when I initiate Airplay on my Mac, Safari will then crash.

I have the same configuration and problem. Have talked with the upper level of Apple tech support and been to the Genius Bar at the local Apple store. We have reset the router and.ATV, uninstalled and reinstalled OS X Yosemite and used the Apple Stores ATV. Issue remains. The issue has been turned over to the Apple engineers. Likely won't see a fix until the next update if then.

Well, Google Chrome works fine, so use that instead.

Quite embarrassing for Apple I'd say
