Play/Pause button long delay

Yeeesss I have this problem as well and can't find any solution to it. Its ridicilous

I'm also affected!

FRESH installation of 10.10.1! MacBook Pro 15", mid 2012. iTunes 12.0.1:

• music is playing
  • hit Play/Pause button on keyboard
  • after ~1,5 secs the music stops
  • hitting the button again: ~1,5 secs delay until the playback starts again.
• same with the forward/rewind key's

Very annoying...

I got the same problem with iTunes since Yosemite upgrade:

for me the Keyboard buttons: play/pause, previous,next - all suffer ~1.5 sec latency in iTunes!

iTunes screen buttons works fine though, iTunes responds instantly.

it's the physical keyboard buttons that got latency all of a sudden...

When playback songs don't get to the end, while in quick time the playback is ok?

at least you're all getting latency, My doesn't even stop or start the music anymore period. Is there a fix for this bug or it's in limbo at the moment?

Had done a clean install of Yosemite on Early 2011 15" MBP (2,3 i7, 2TB SSD, 16gig RAM). After the Update to 10.10.1 i am experiencing the mentioned ~1.5sec latency when using the shortcut buttons for skip + Play/Pause. Volume works fine. Latest iTunes version is installed. Software buttons work without delay.

I have the same problem. I have a 2-month old retina macbook pro. After upgrading to Yosemite, previous/pause/next all lag for the same amount of time, ~1.5 seconds. All other F buttons (volume, brightness, etc) work as quickly as they should.

Very annoying, I use those buttons frequently.

I've got a similar issue. I recently upgraded from a 2010 iMac 16GB RAM 10.10 to a 2014 Retina iMac 32GB SSD 10.10.1. I never had the problem with the previous system unless it was under severe memory starvation (in which case everything suffered), but with this new system / 10.10.1, after the system has been idle for an hour or more, I experience about a 5 second delay when unpausing iTunes. After this initial delay, all future activity in iTunes is at normal speed until the next long idle time. No other app is experiencing a delay. No spinning colour wheel show. The delays seems consistent, too.

As an OS person, it feels like the kind of issue where something isn't resident in memory and needs paging back in or there is a timeout.

I guess my next step will be to watch Activity Monitor (the memory page) and check to see if iTunes has had it's memory compressed or paged out. My previous system was always under a lot more memory pressure and normally had the swapfiles in rotating disk, yet it didn't have this issue.

I'm also having a ~5 second delay on the physical media controls to iTunes (previous, play/pause, next), but no issues with any other function keys. Even when I tap the play/pause key twice very quickly, it takes the delay to register, and then has an additional delay between responding to the first press and second. The delay seems to be less when I have the iTunes window in focus and longer when something else is. The digital buttons work fine. I'm using a 3 month old 13" retina Macbook Pro with Yosemite.

It's worth noting that in any other app using these controls, like Rdio for example, the physical buttons work perfectly with no delays whether the app is in focus or not.

And, after a reboot, the media keys work fine. I'll be sure to update if the problem pops up again, if I can determine the source

Is there a way to fix this yet?

On my Macbook Pro 13 mid 2009 the media keys (play/pause, Forward, Back) don't work what so ever. I only began getting this problem after I installed OSX 10.10 Mavericks.
