can't access paypal website

I updated my MBP (mid 2010) and iMac (2009) to Yosemite and all is working fine with one problem. I can no longer access www.paypal.com using either Safari or Firefox. The browser just hangs.

Things I've tried so far:

Cleared history, cache and all web data in settings

Restarted computers

Reset modem/router

I can access other websites OK. I can access paypal.com on my iPad (iOS8.1) using the same WiFi network that the MBP and Mac are connected to.

I'm at a loss as to what to try next. Any ideas?

On Safari do you have the develop menu? if not you can activate it in the preferences. You can then try using the err console-that might tell you something. If you know scripting-which i am guessing you don't given you did not know about this. you can step things through things in the web inspector to see where its getting stuck.. unknown host at paypal.com would suggest something in your DNS is stopping you getting to .com

I've been struggling with this all night last night. I try to log into my paypal account. It takes me to the log in screen, I log in and hit enter and get a blank white screen. Nothing else happens. I tried changing my DNS server to googles in network preferences and still does not work. Here is the wierd thing. If I use my phones wifi hot spot through verizon and connect my macbook to it, I can get right into my account with no problems. None of our 6 devices will allow us in through our home network. I am using a Linksys EA6200 router. Any ideas. Paypal is the only site I've noticed problems with. Also, we have never had problems before with the same equipment.
