iMac 5K Retina extremely slow Mission Control

Just got the base model iMac Retina 5K. Mission Control is extremely slow, and so far seems to be only part of the UI that lags. It can barely even animate. I know these are new and not yet proven, but even the worst integrated card can animate Mission Control smoothly on other Macs. I can't understand why it lags so badly. I don't want to just wait for an update while I'm in my return window, in case this is the potential of this card while driving this display, but I can't imagine that to be so.

Same problem (iMac 5k, i7, 256SSD, GPU 4gb) - lag on mission control, lag on opening files (command+o) in any app.

Clean install resolve problem.

I think it maybe:

1. clean my mac or onyx (on other forum some user written, that clean my mac can damage some system files)

2. AND/OR transfering system preferences form my MacbookProRetina.

On clean install i dont use migration assistant or clean my mac.

Now everything is good. Very good.

Here's a bit of a workaround from this blog post: http://www.chriswrites.com/turn-off-animations-eye-candy-effects-in-mac-os-x-lio n/

Specifically, issue the following command via Terminal to disable Mission Control animations:

defaults write com.apple.dock expose-animation-duration -int 0; killall Dock

To restore the "smooth" animations, issue this command via Terminal:

defaults delete com.apple.dock expose-animation-duration; killall Dock

In my brief testing, it does work in Yosemite, but it just feels awkward and may take some time to get used to...

Hope this helps!

I updated to 10.10.2 yesterday and now the problem is far worse. Seems to happen a lot sooner. Instead of just stuttering now, it completely freezes for a bit, and sometimes the screen even goes completely black for a second or two when I pull up mission control. It's crazy that my 5 year old MacBook Pro is so much more fluid and better performing than my brand new, super expensive, iMac powerhouse. Hope this is fixed soon.
