Mail to calendar links not working

My workflow has always depended on dragging e-mails from Mail to iCal

This generates link in ical event "Show in mail" - giving me option to find the e-mail with one click from iCal

Since Yosemite install the links go wrong!
I can generate several events from several e-mails and all links point me to the same random e-mail. I haven't yet found clear pattern in this randomness, but it seems to link to the first mail-to-iCal created after sleep/restart, but not always...

Anybody experiencing similar bug?

Tried "mailbox" > "rebuid" with no result.

Any more ideas?

I'm on MB Pro 2009 using POP-accounts for mail but the random-link behavior is just same when dragging mails from my icloud account.

I just checked my calendar entries using iCloud in the browser. It shows the url: field which is where the "Show in Mail..." link is stored in the cloud, and the browser Calendar shows a completely different URL than the Calendar desktop client.

There's hope that the underlying iCloud calendar data is OK and that this is just the Calendar app messing up the link as it reads it.

Me too. What I'm seeing is that iCal isn't following its Mail links at all - when I hover over older links I see a "message" URL that is obviously wrong.

I've spent hours on the phone with Apple Care, and at first they all (I talked to a number of different people) weren't aware of an existing problem, Finally I was escalated to "the engineers", and after a few days was informed that yeah, there's a problem, but they don't know what it is. It wasn't fixed in the most recent update, unfortunately. I've had other problems, where the link seems to work, but it thinks the email is in a different mailbox from where it actually is, and just a gray square shows, with the subject line on top showing me it's the one I want, but no content. I hope they fix that bug too.

Anyone else have that problem? That was there before Yosemite.

I am having the same issue... The only work around I have found is that if you right click on the event and select "get info" it pops up with a small info window (that looks identical to the popup window you get when you double click the event) and if you click on the show in mail link that is in that window, the link actually works..... not sure why the other link doesn't work if this link does... Odd.. hopefully this will help ya'll till they fix it...

OK, this actually looks like a workaround indeed. I never noticed that these links are different!

In settings>advanced> mark "Open events in separate window"

This way if you doubleclick the info popup open, you can get the right link. The mess of having several Popups open is not so nice of course, but at least it works this way. I'm back @ calendar finally. Thanks!

While the workaround suggested by "manasubie" worked in this case, it basically speaks to Apple's newfound carelessness in things. I am annoyed that these kind of little quirks compelled me to move from Windows to Mac in the first place. And, Mac is heading in the same direction now with this iCal-Mail mess up and bluetooth connectivity troubles in Mavericks.

Hopefully someone from Apple would actually get off their high horse, remove their fancy new Watch, and improve their core product first.
