Quicktime player doesn't recognize newly downloaded movie files since updating to Yosemite, help!

Since upgrading, Quicktime player does not recognize recently downloaded movie files (neither .mp4 or .mov), I have redownloaded Quicktime 7 to no avail. Whenever I click on a file I get this message which links me to this page:

Does anyone have any suggestions for further troubleshooting?
