Oct 24, 2014 11:35 AM in response to lllaassby RickM2014,I read the kb article. I do not have a firewire cable but do have a macbook air Will USB cable work?
I have a current TM backup on a external USB drive.
When I press the option key during startup, the Apple logo shows up, then the keyboard light comes on, then I get the spinning wheel and then about 30 sec later, the grey screen.
Everytime I have to shut the mini down, I do it by holding in the power button for 5 sec.

Oct 24, 2014 12:37 PM in response to lllaassby RickM2014,Only after I held down the startup button for a few seconds and then held the option key did the boot options show up on the screen. It showed the startup volume, recovery volume and TM backup. I tried each one of them, but still same results, the grey screen. Making some progress, but not there yet.
