Mac OS 10.7 upgrade failing at disk selection screen. "this disk cannot be used to startup your computer" It is the current startup disk on my 10.6.8 installation. What am I missing?

Upgrading to MAC OS 10.7 on a Macbook Air:

Model Name: MacBook Air

Model Identifier: MacBookAir3,1

Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo

Processor Speed: 1.4 GHz

Number of Processors: 1

Total Number of Cores: 2

L2 Cache: 3 MB

Memory: 2 GB

Bus Speed: 800 MHz

Boot ROM Version: MBA31.0061.B01

Available Storage 17.5 GB on a 60.3 GB drive.

On upgrade installation message says " you cannot use this disk to startup your computer"

My current OS is 10.6.8 and is using this disk as the startup volume. How do I proceed?

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7)

Hey rmobley15,

Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the installer wont let you use this disk to startup. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

Installer reports "OS X could not be installed on your computer" or "This disk cannot be used to start up your computer"
