Calendar app stuck in "moving calendars to server account" after yosemite upgrade

No matter how many times I force quit (because its essentially frozen) the Calendars app on my MacBook, it is constantly going through the same steps and freezing on the "Moving Calendars to Server Account" stage. I just recently upgraded to Yosemite and did not have this problem when I upgraded to Mavericks. How do I stop this?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

Hi, cmarthur.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

Try removing the preference to sync calendar events in iCloud preferences. Once this is down enable the preference again and see if this resolves the issue.

  • Turn iCloud Calendars off and back on:
    1. Quit Calendar (or iCal).
    2. Choose
Apple () menu > System Preferences, then select iCloud.
    3. Deselect the checkbox next to Calendars.
    4. Close System Preferences and wait about a minute.
    5. Open System Preferences and select iCloud.
    6. Replace the checkmark next to Calendars.
    7. Close System Preferences.
    8. Open Calendar (or iCal) and test to see if the issue is resolved.
  • Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it reinitializes your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

If the issue persists, try all remaining steps in the article below.
