Resetting your iPad to factory default is a good measure to take. AND I don't know why you lost your data ... when all you have to do is restore from your iCloud Backup. For instructions on how to do both of these things, here are some Apple document links.

Oct 24, 2014 11:55 AMby Stewtomcat ,I am not really interested in any replies as its done and dusted what's lost is lost and just feel truly shafted by Apple and poorer for it . Not all of us can afford both an iPad and a computer ! So please keep your thoughts to yourselves I just posted this so people would be aware its never as simple as it seams .

That what I am using. What we are stuck with we need to keep updating iphone & iPads every 18 months/2years To keep up with changes That what I do and sell old ones on EBay at lease that way you get a bit of money back.
