What exactly did you try to reinstall?

It appears that there's a system component missing which would require a reinstall of the system. To do so boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down) and reinstall the system from there. Once you've reinstalled be sure to run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions.

OT, this is 10.6, so no recovery mode. Could just do a default reinstall, which will save users, apps, network settings, then update back to 10.6.8 using the combo update.

Or get Pacifist and use it to reinstall just that missing file from the install DVD.

Boot to the install dvd (insert the install dvd, then restart, then press and hold down the C key immediately at the chime) and select reinstall. That's it. Then update to 10.6.8 from the combo http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 Also check software update for anything you need to bring back.

Normally no problems, but not a bad idea to have a backup, in case.

i bought this imac awhile ago dont think i can find my install dvd bro

when i try the update software i get the same dyld error message

i am not trying to confuse anyone bro .

i am from the Caribbean i am a musician just trying to fix my computer which is my LIFE LINE IN THIS realms

I don't think the Combo update contains that file. For that, you need to reinstall the base system, according to my directions above for a reinstall. The other option is Pacifist, then drill down to where that file is on the install DVD and move it over to the volume on the Mac.

According to Pacifist that updater contains the WebKit.framework

The OP could try using the demo version of Pacifist to custom install just that file.

Just to be certain, do you see that exact file in question inside the WebKit.framework? No idea, but is it possible that the Combo WebKit is only an update to the base system WebKit, but not the entire base system WebKit, which would include that file, and is missing that file?

Or the OP is not going about this correctly.

I think you're right. The updater has an alias WebCore file so the entire system will need to be restored.

i did do that i download Pacifist as i said above and when trying to open it i get the dyld error !

so alll that i may be going the wrong way thats y i asked for help

i did download Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 and installed it again and no thing changed

so that was i option

what else to try when

Without that you are SOL. If you were in the US, you could call Apple, give them the serial # of the computer, and they would, for a small fee, send you the original discs. EDITED: looking again, I'm seeing that the original system for your Mac was Leopard, not Snow Leopard, so that wouldn't work anyway. According to your specs, you can also use the retail 10.6.3 DVD, which you'll have to purchase. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard Another idea would be to bring the Mac into an Apple Store, or an Apple Authorized or repair service of some kind, if there is one, and ask them if they will do the reinstall.
