Oct 26, 2014 6:14 PM in response to vasquez_mby j-m-d,I "upgraded" (Apple's word for it, not mine) to Yosemite last week, and had trouble with email.
I deleted the 2 AOL accounts on the machine, and reestablished them with the "Add Account" feature.
It keeps asking me for the the passwords for them, tells me the passwords i give are wrong. it does this 3-4 times every once in awhile
Thing is, both accounts are correctly logged in, I can send and receive mail to from/to them. I never saw it do this in (good old) Mavericks.
Also, when I created the account, it choose Port 143 in the Advanced tab. Somewhere along the line it changed them Port to 993, I don't know who is doing this, or why ???? Can anyone clear this up for me ???

Oct 26, 2014 7:48 PM in response to vasquez_mby djtnyc,Yup, me too. It happened under Leopard, Mavericks and now Yosemite on my brand new Mac Pro. it is a very very annoying problem. I find the only temporary "work-around" is to quit and reboot Apple Mail. And when that doesn't work, reboot the Mac. When that doesn't work, run DiskWarrior. It then usually stops... until the next time.

Try deleting the passwords from Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access. While there, run Keychain First Aid.
Try running Keychain First Aid and resetting the original keychain.
