Q: iPad Air 2 WiFi Issues

I'm having WiFi connectivity issues on my new iPad Air 2 (WiFi only). I'm having to turn WiFi off and on to reset my connection. Restarting and restoring hasn't fixed the issue.

    That was me that has the DLink 855L. I have the DLink here at my office, and replaced my Linksys EA4500 at home with an Asus RT-66U. As of right now everything is working great. But as I said before, its not right if people have to go and replace their Linksys routers. Its just not an option for everyone. Either Linksys or Apple need to figure it out.

    My experience with Linksys has been less than good.  It is not Apple's job to make sure that everything it makes works with what others - it is the responsibility of the manufacturers to be sure they update their firmware to play nice with others.  Linksys could care less, in my experience. 

     

    Since most of you are talking about a new iPad Air 2, I would strongly advise you to call Apple Support and discuss this with them - it's free for 90 days.

    Thanks for letting me know. Seems like a good move and I'm glad things are more stable. If you could report back when you get a chance, maybe after the weekend then I'll be ordering the Asus early next week.

    I Have same issue. Did restore reset, all the things Apple told me to do.  Nothing works except wifi off and back on or airplane on and off.

    Had exactly the same problem with a new iPad Air 2 dropping WiFi after x hours inactivity. Also have a Linksys E4500. Replaced it today with a Netgear Nighthawk X4 R7500, problem has gone away now.

     

    Also had crappy performance on the Linksys on 2.4GHz, also gone with the Netgear.

    Thanks for this - interesting it worked for you.  I had tried n-only on 5GHz with no luck, and I don't want to go to a-only because that will restrict my other devices, some of which actually need all the bandwidth to perform nightly backups to my local NAS drive - its an 10x difference in effective speeds (versus theoretical speeds) between the two.

    My ipad has wifi issues with a Linksys EA4500.

    Instead, connected to Fastweb router (Technicolor TG582n) is operating normally.

    I hope that Apple will release an update as soon as possible.

    Are you seeing how many of those with problems are using Linksys routers?  Might be a clue?

    I am using a Linksys EA4500 router as well and am having the exact same issues as described with my iPad Air 2.  I have tried everything from using a static IP address for my iPad to reconfiguring all of the network settings.  I contacted Apple today and they seem to be unaware of the problem.  They escalated me to a higher level tech support specialist (good customer service by the way).  I sent her a link to this thread and she read through the whole thing.  I am hoping this will bring it to their attention a little more.  I have an appointment tomorrow at the Apple store to have diagnostics ran on the iPad.

    Thanks for consolidating.  If you based your Actiontec listing on my experience, I actually think that is OK.  I have a bit of a unique setup, but am running a test just on the Actiontec that held a connection for 2 hours this morning - I need to check when i go home and will report if that connection stayed active and that should clear the Actiontec.  This is an important test on my side because I need to figure out if my broken chain is with my EA4500 acting as a bridge, the Actiontec router, or both, before deciding if this should be the excuse to upgrade to ac...

    I Confirmed that the actiontec router supplied by Verizon (at least ver F of that router) does work OK with the Air 2.  Mine remained connected for 12 hours today.  So far I have tested 4, and only the EA4500 has issues.
