Q: iPad Air 2 WiFi Issues

I'm having WiFi connectivity issues on my new iPad Air 2 (WiFi only). I'm having to turn WiFi off and on to reset my connection. Restarting and restoring hasn't fixed the issue.

    Yup - for me too, Angry Birds was the problem on two different routers in two different locations.  Other big apps don't create the problem (see above).  If I quit AB after playing, I don't have problems. Simple (so far anyway).  This happens when AB is the only other app running besides Speedtest or when three other big appas are running.

    I replaced my router by the Airport Extreme 802.11ac.   No more problems.  All stay connected solid for now.  They better be because I told Apple if they did not stay, I was bringing the iPad and the router back.  I have a week to make sure it is solid all the time. I will report later.

    Just wanted to add another iPad Air 2 wifi failure.

    Purchase iPad Air 2 Saturday and been dropping wifi everyday.

    I have several apple devices that work fine. I have called Apple support and opened

    a case. They had me try several things which didn't fix anything. They don't know of

    any issues with iPad Air 2's. I pointed them to this site but they wanted to replace with

    a new one. Well at this point i told them that i will return it to the store i bought it from

    to either get another one - which won't correct anything or get my money back.

    I just had a 3 hour discussion with a senior Apple advisor.

    She has taken all sorts of data and input from me including the nature of this thread and others,

    as well as step by step re-enactments, settings changes, restores, resets, etc...

     

    It is being elevated to Engineering.

    AH ah ah, i think they all work at different cities and they cannot talk to each others....they all say that first time they heard about this problem!

    At Apple, as at most Companies, information flows upward, but seldom dosnward,

     

    In this case, that may be a good thing. It appears that there are several problems here. The common thread appears to be a problem with wireless N connectivity. In some cases the problem appears to be related to the wireless chip set used in the wireless access point (router.) In other cases it appears to be related to a specific APP.

    I too have been experiencing many wireless connection problems with my Air. However, one thing that seems to be working for me is to set the channel number of my wireless router to something other than its default channel (channel 6). Starting with channel 1 I found that channel 1 and 3 made no difference, channel 2 seemed to work for a while before connection problems started again, but channel 4 has been problem free after 2 days of use. I haven't tried channel numbers above 4.

    Rds1961, which mode did you channel at? 2.4GHz or 5GHz?

    This worked for me. I set up a static address and suddenly all issues were gone. Thanks for the suggestion. I use a TP Link router (old, so only 2.4 abg), although iPad wasn't connecting to my Time Capsule either. It did connect in hotels though. Quite a mystery and a waste of time.

    Ordered my Ipad Air2 online and when the box arrived it looked like UPS drove over it.  thought my Wifi issues were a result of this but glad I am not the only one.

    Using an Airport Extreme 802.11ac and an Airport Extreme 802.11n (4th Gen) and get constant drops when streaming

    My wireless router (D-Link DI-624) is quite old and is 2.4GHz only.

    I think the wifi problem on my iPad Air 2 is all gone now, no more connection dropping or slowness anymore.  I think it's turning on the "ask to join networks" option and doing a hard reset on my wifi router solved the problem. I also changed my wifi router from bridge mode back to the default mode.

    I'm having the same issue. Air 2 - wifi says its connected but I've no connectivity. Happens 100% of the time if it's been on standby. I've a Linksys EA4500 router. I'm trying to set the 5Ghz band to 802.11a as per the other threads suggestion.

    Xithus, that will work temporarily but than you'll lose connectivity again. Just not as much losing connection in other modes.

    I have the same exact equipment as you....but I am using the 5GHz channel in 802.11a mode.

    You need to make sure you disable N from both your 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands.  Settings should be:

     

    2.4: B/G

    5.0: A
