Q: iPad Air 2 WiFi Issues

I'm having WiFi connectivity issues on my new iPad Air 2 (WiFi only). I'm having to turn WiFi off and on to reset my connection. Restarting and restoring hasn't fixed the issue.

If you check most posts since the Apple upgrade to iso8 you wil see streams of iPad mini users are having the same problem. Until Apple software designers sort it out there is NOTHING you can do. And that's the good news!

Claire--this is the exact Router I was using EA3500 with the latest firmware.  I was experiencing the problem big time.  I now purchased and installed the Airport Extreme, and it says solid on the Internet.  No more problems

JUST NOW I saw that Cisco Linksys has release a new firmware update for the EA3500 (probably others)....  Hmmm....

I just did the upgrade and we shall see if that helps.... BUT Apple just called me to ask for one more test on an outside network....  so it's still may be a compatibility issue with "some" routers.

Anyone else see that firmware update from Cisco/Linksys?

I would caution people who are rushing out to buy new routers as well - some new AC routers appear to work, and some do not,  For example, the R7000 and R7500 routers from Netgear (the R7500 having been released within the last few months) appear to still cause problems, while the Asus RT-AC68U/R appears to work well.  I have seem some people say the Apple Airport works, while an admittedly smaller number said it did not solve their problems.  What IS common is that all the people with routers have numerous apple and non-apple devices that still work, even with the routers that do not work with the Air 2.

Chances are there is some combination of router, air 2, and perhaps some other network device that causes problems.  For example, if I unplug my airplay capable devices (a Denon 2113 receiver), the Air2 seems to have a much easier time staying connected.  Apple should work on the issue; while I agree they are not obligated to make their devices backwards compatible with old tech, they do have an unstated obligation to make their devices play nice with standards based infrastructure technology, especially as most (if not all) of the routers on the "does not work" list were released in the last 2 years, hardly "obsolete" and most likely newer than the routers installed in public locations like hotels, airports, starbucks, etc.

    Router List restated below:

    Note: Linksys = Cisco here

Routers reported to be dropping connections

    Linksys EA4500 N900

    Linksys EA3500 N750

    Linksys E4200 N900

    DLink DIR-355 N300

NetGear WNDR3700 N600 (one user reports problem goes away if memory intensive app is shut down)

    NetGear R7000 AC1900

    NetGear R7500 AC2350

    DLink DIR-655 N300

Apple Time Machine (8-year old version)

    Routers reported to keep connection

    Asus RT-AC68U AC1900

    Asus RT-AC66U AC1750

    DLink DIR-855L N900

    DLink DIR-510L AC750

Actionec Ver F 802.11g (older version of router provided by Verizon for FIOS)

    Netgear R6300 ver 2 AC1750

    Netgear R8000 AC3200

Mixed results - Some OK, some not

Apple AirPort Extreme 802.11ac (unspecified versions)

Thanks for taking the time to summarize the thread.

Disabling 802.11n on the EA4500 has worked for me, but I'm unhappy with the performance. Hopefully this is fixed with a software update.

I just discovered, that my Linksys EA4500 is telling me it has the latest firmware, but actually there is a newer firmware on the Linksys Website.

My router is telling me, it has 2.0.37.131947 and when I click on "Check for update" on the router web interface, it's saying "Your router software is up to date".

But when going to http://support.linksys.com/en-eu/support/routers/EA4500 the latest firmware listed is 2.1.41.162351.

So I will update it manually to this version and see what happens

I Have that firmware, doesn't work for me.  It is a new cloud based firmware, which s lot of people hated when it came out, which is why it's not an auto update.

Maybe it's time for all you Air 2 owners to be upgrading your old routers
