Nov 22, 2014 3:32 PM in response to escrge1843by Stabgotham,I would like to sadly report, that my iPad Air 2 was working great on 8.1.1 for a while. Now, I cannot maintain connection to the 5GHz band on my ASUS RT-N66U to save my life. Drops every 5 minutes. My iPhone 5 is also on this same band and has no issues maintaining connectivity.
I'm a sad panda...

Nov 23, 2014 4:18 AM in response to escrge1843by Hessu75,I also report that after the latest update to 8.1.1, the Apple iPad2 WiFi connection brakes all the time. Also the WEP password is lost all the time. This problem is only with Apple products. Basically they are now useless with WiFi.

Nov 23, 2014 5:55 AM in response to escrge1843by topherprimejg,So my awesome brother just bought me a 64gb iPad Air 2 (today, 11/22/2014) and right out of the box it's had WiFi issues. At first I thought it was the router, but then I realized that none of the other devices in the house (iphone 5 (iOS 7), Galaxy S4 and S5, Lumia, mom's iPad 3 (iOS 5) , four windows computers) have no wifi issues, and the router is less than two years old. The iphone and both iPads show the same up and down speeds, but only the iPad Air 2 is having issues. Spent 12 hours trying to resolve this issue, I'm done. I'm not buying a new router or tweeking any more settings. That is absolutely ridiculous.
Major Lolz to this Thatchcote cat

Nov 23, 2014 2:22 PM in response to Robertcisaby nhcowboy,FIXED IT,!!!
Like many here I had a brand new boat anchor of an iPad air 2 re: wi fi problems. Every single tip, trick, suggestion- you name it I tried to no avail. I have a new ipad air 2 and just bought a brand new airport extreme router and use a late 2012 mini mac computer. Cut to the chase.... On my airport extreme router I set up a guest network which works FLAWLESSLY and is SUPER FAST! All of the previous wif issues are gone now. Previously I tried different dns servers, different channels on the router, hard resets, reset network settings, forget this network, even wiped the ipad air 2 back to factory settings and nothing helped one bit! As an aside I always set my ipads up as new and not from backup.
I'm not touching anything now since it works like a dream over the "guest network" set up on my airport in extreme. I've lost sleep and countless hours, fruitless calls with Apple, and tried every single trick and tip and some I even invented. Nothing, and I mean nothing helped and as soon as I logged into my ipad air 2 on the "guest network" eveything is EXACTLY like what you wish for. It's been hours and so far so good. if anything changes I'll keep y'all posted but so far this is the furthest and best results of all.
Try setting up a guest betwork on your router and use that. If it works for you, you will know immediately. Now I'll be scared in the morning to try it again but for the moment I verything is as it should be and then some.,
I hope this helps someone out, it's an easy thing to try :-)

Nov 24, 2014 9:55 AM in response to escrge1843by mroy1,I solved my problem and it was a very easy fix - replace the router. I never really liked the Linksys EA4500 and when I found a new router for $69.99 it was a no-brainer. I bought a TRENDnet Wireless AC1200 Dual Band Gigibit Router with USB Share Port, TEW-813DRU from Amazon. I installed it a couple of weeks ago and I haven't had one drop since. My iPad Air 2, iPhone 6, my wife's iPhone 4s and her iPad 1st Gen have all worked flawlessly on wifi with excellent speed and not a single drop.
So for $70 I upgraded to a faster and better router and also solved the wifi dropping issue. Definitely a no-brainer.
