Dec 17, 2014 5:49 PM in response to NighthawkR7000by nangil,NIghthawkR7000 - I was having the same exact problems as you. Try uninstalling your router and reinstalling it and then adding your Air 2 to your wifi device list. This did the trick for me and saved me from buying a new router that I didn't need.

Dec 21, 2014 5:54 AM in response to escrge1843by Marcmar,I had the same issue and thought I would return ipad air 2 but then I found that wifi is not completely turn off because of the Location Services settings... so you must turn off Location Services first, then reset your networking, after it restart, I can now put in the password and it works again.
Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services. before you reset your networking
and after resetting the wifi networking, the internet connect become much better than it was.... some glitch when they were doing quality control or something... causes the wifi to slow down to it knee... it's so bad that my ipad 2 was a bit faster on opening FB pages... but my me it's a happy ending.
Hope this help.

Dec 21, 2014 2:07 PM in response to escrge1843by appleuuuuser, guys I had the same problem but I solve it, your iPad is connecting to some random IP Adress on iOS 8.1.2, all you need to do is go to your some other apple device (in my case iPhone) go to info about network and copy that numbers about network in "STATIC" area on your iPad but some other port than iPhone for example (1.21)...
hope this will help

Dec 22, 2014 7:48 AM in response to escrge1843by KatSexiNikki,I too have this same problem and I called Apple about it. They did a reset on my network connections that was just a temporary fix. It started happening again. I also have an additional issue with my Ipad Air 2 just randomly rebooting itself. I have never had this problem with an Apple device before but this Air 2 is getting on my nerves. I hope they have a fix for it soon.

Dec 22, 2014 3:05 PM in response to escrge1843by rarerock,I just got an Ipad Air 64gb and the same issues, called Apple support, they basically read a script from the support page, reset everything countless times (which makes no sense since all other apple devices work fine, iphones, ipad mini, ipad 2) so searching around i found the DNS fix and it's working flawless so far, no lag, no drops, so 8.8.8.8 works which is Googles DNS Server, until there's a fix i'm sticking with this. Other issues is random lockups, and app crashing? I have the same IOS on all devices so starting to think it's an Air hardware issue? But there is a different IOS for each device so who knows? Either way it is irritating for what this pad cost and to have these issues. And i see alot about replacing routers here, my theory is if everything else works fine, then its the Ipad with an issue, and some service providers don't have newer equipment available, and to do that for just one device is absurd. So hopefully there is a fix on the way? Or apple has a big recall on their hands!

Dec 22, 2014 3:27 PM in response to rarerockby Thatchcote,I can't believe that this thread is still being posted on. Does no one read the previous pages? This is NOT an Apple iPad Air2 hardware problems!!! It is a router problem for some routers who don't have the capability to run the very latest wireless OS. Some can have a firmware update; in some cases, the router must be replaced.
There has not been, nor will there be a massive recall on the iPad Air 2!

My wife has a new apple iPad Air 2 and it is working great with no problems connecting and staying connected. Our wireless Router is an Asus RT-AC68U.
I suspect that those with Air 2's having wifi issues might want to look at their older routers as being the problem, because as I said, my wife's Air 2 is not having any problems.

Dec 22, 2014 4:00 PM in response to Thatchcoteby rarerock,Wow, ok, wasn't my intention to spark a flare up, but why can't the Air be backwards compatible? Most things are until the latest technology takes hold. I just posted my issue so Apple was aware again, and my service provider at this time has no upgrade options, and there the only option i have where i live. So lets relax a bit.

Dec 22, 2014 4:22 PM in response to rarerockby Thatchcote,New computer products can only go back so far. Most routers work just fine with the iPad Air 2; some do not. There are over 30 pages of these posts, with people screaming about massive recalls when this is a problem limited to a few unlucky people. The iPad Air 2 has now been out for a few months and there have been NO recalls due to wifi problems. Some problems were fixed with the OS updates; others continue due to router hardware problems.
Do you rent your router from your ISP or do you own it? Even if you rent it, you most likely can provide your own. Since Apple is an international company, a user-to-user forum usually has no idea where you live or who your ISP is. We can only share our own personal experiences and make suggestions. Most of the problems that we've seen in this thread were with people who tweak their routers in order to get faster speeds. Usually, ones router knows which band works with the product that is using it.
I would suggest you contact Apple Customer Service since you just purchased your iPad Air 2. Perhaps, they can help you with a fix.

Dec 22, 2014 5:35 PM in response to Thatchcoteby rarerock,
Out of all these post with problems, I am the chosen one to get get blasted, funny, I have the tech skills to deal with this, and I'm not screaming, just posting as others, but again I'm the chosen one! I retract my post, I have no problems, apple is great, my router which is less than a year old is out dated, my bad luck. I'll survive, so after all these post why was I chosen? Just more bad luck, who knows but it's all good, like I said I went around the issue. So please find another post for you to harass. BTW I read the 33 pages of post!, and no where did I see on apple or in my little booklet that I would need to update my router to make it work correctly And thanks for the help!! -
Dec 22, 2014 8:18 PM in response to escrge1843by 7rv9m,I have Comcast internet with their modem. Don't know if it's 8.1.2, etc. I just bought my iPad air 2 this morning. When I came home from work I tried to set up wifi. I typed in my password and got message it was wrong. I kept trying and it would never accept my password. After reading most of the posts here, I tried the suggestion to turn off location on iPad, unplug modem, plug it back in. Then I tried to put in my password and it accepted it. No problems yet. iPad went to sleep and I woke it up, still connected to wifi. Keeping my fingers crossed. I have version 8.1

Dec 23, 2014 6:02 AM in response to escrge1843by Marcmar,Ok, I reset my networking settings on my 1 week old Air 2,although it is now let me put in my password and connect but the connection was still slow and laggy. So I went to talk to the Apple Rep at the physical store, she suggest that I reset my router, I have bell switch for both internet and TV, so I unplug the power for over 10 seconds, press Reset(with a little pointy screw driver). Boom, my TV stop working, my internet no signal... for about 5 minutes until everything reset itself, I had to re loggin to my bell account to activate my router again. Once all this pain is through, Air 2 works great, faster respond and no more lagging. Although the speedtest show that before the reset the DL speed was 9Mbs, after reset, it's stuck at 6Mbs both U/DL... but anyway it works much better after resetting.

Dec 26, 2014 8:08 AM in response to Thatchcoteby gmve,This is not a router issue. I just received a new iPad air 2 with wifi/cellular. I have two airport extreme's, newest version. I have original iPad, iPad 2, iPad 3, several iPhones of all varieties, 5 macbook pro's, 2 macbook airs, etc.. NONE have this problem except for the new Air. I followed everyone's instructions and my iPad air will connect, get valid ip and routing information but packets from the iPad 2 do not route to anything on my network or to the internet. I reset everything including the iPad air 2, my routers, etc.. This is probably an IOS bug which means I paid a fortune for a boat anchor that who knows when it will get fixed. I use mine for work so this is a huge problem.

Dec 26, 2014 9:03 AM in response to gmveby Thatchcote,Since your routers are new Apple products, I would call Apple for support. You have 90 days of support, or if you purchased AppleCare, you have 2 years. They can far better advise you than we can.
