iTunes 12.0.1 update no longer recognizes my device (iPhone 4s on ios8). Is Apple working on this?

I am trying to get the 8.1 update for my phone because of the major group chat issues. I need to download it through iTunes though because my phone doesn't have the required space to do it otherwise. However, upon getting the new version of iTunes before going for the phone update, my new iTunes (12.0.1) no longer recognizes my device (my computer does, just not iTunes), and therefore I can't get the phone update (at this point my group messages don't even send...) nor can I download music!

Apple, please tell me you are working on a fix for this bug!!

Before i answer i should clarify, I'm running the Windows 64-bit version if it makes this any easier?

Anyways, when i plug my phone into my laptop, the My Computer section shows that my iPhone device is plugged in (I'm talking about the screen that shows your devices and optical drives), but when i look at my iTunes (it was on and running when i plugged my phone in), it looks as if nothing has been plugged in, nothing changes about the interface.

Even when i go to File>Devices, all the options are still grayed out as if nothing is plugged in.

The pic you linked isn't visible for me :s

But no, my iTunes literally just looks like no devices have been plugged in. All my music is there, everything is there so far that I've seen, but my phone isn't connecting for whatever reason. I've even pressed the "trust" option on my phone and everything, like it seems I've taken all the steps, it just isn't showing up!

I recently saw another post on here where people are also complaining about this (i believe the other person has an iPhone 5s with ios8.1?...can't remember), so it looks like im not alone on this.

I can't..no :/

HOWEVER, i fixed it!

All you need to do is go to the control panel, and uninstall iTunes AS WELL AS the apple mobile device support. when its all uninstalled, go and re-download the newest version of iTunes (this will also automatically download the mobile device support as well, so dont worry!). when it boots up, plug in your device and it should work! it worked for me at the very least, and all my other stuff was up to date and operating fine, so..

thanks for the help anyways though, i appreciate it.
