Oct 29, 2014 6:44 AM in response to Dreanmachine1by thiswateredone,I picked up my replacement last night at the Apple Store. While setting it up I went to input the passcode and when I tapped the screen to type the text I heard a pop. But the speaker crackling was not present and the overall quality of the sound is much improved over the first iPad Air 2. I noticed with the first one it was way too loud at low volume.
However, I did hear that one pop during setup. Have another 14 days to try this unit out, not sure if I will keep it or try again with another one.

Oct 30, 2014 8:21 PM in response to Dreanmachine1by Scott Rose,Went to the Apple Store today with my iPad Air 2 which had numerous sound problems: popping sounds, sound failures, sound vibrations, etc. The Genius said that it seemed like a hardware problem to him. He exchanged my iPad Air 2 for a new iPad Air 2, and I haven't had any sound problems in the last 3 hours. I will post back on this thread if I do end up having sound problems on this new iPad Air 2. But if you don't hear back from me, I will consider these sound problems resolved for me. Seems like a hardware problem.

Nov 9, 2014 10:49 PM in response to DGP23by HaimonaT,I have had my iPad air 2, IOS 8.1 for three days now. Twice I have had to do a hard turn off to hear
1. Video, then
2. YouTube
This was similar to a problem I experienced with the iPad air (1).
I will speak to Apple tomorrow as this is a fault.

Nov 17, 2014 11:28 AM in response to DGP23by jridg,I just set up my ipad air 2 and it would not play in-app sounds - no mute toggle on the new one and I couldn't figure it out - then I discovered the mute button on the airdrop screen - fixed me right up!

Simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen… There you will see that a new mute button
is checked… just click to uncheck and problem solved
That worked for me!! Thank You!!

Nov 18, 2014 5:18 PM in response to DGP23by RobertoFromSoCal,I'm expierencing the same issues I've posted a video demonstrating for those who dont know what's going on.
i honeslty don't know if it's a hardware problem with the speakers because if you plug in headphones the same problems persist plus it will only play sound out of one side
restarting will kill sound all together which I also posted a video of, idk what to do. It seems like leaving it off for a while (a day?) fixes the problem

Nov 24, 2014 5:44 AM in response to DGP23by cxase,I follow Re: No Sound iPad Air 8.1 after restart my iPad. Then the sound go normal.
Settings / General / Accessibility / Mono Audio On and Off
Before this procedure, there is crack sound sometimes and only one side of speakers have sound, and when changing settings / sounds / ringer volume, the speak makes very loud sound.
Seems really related to my bluetooth earphone.

Dec 28, 2014 9:21 AM in response to DGP23by Emma_esse,Same issue with mine and after 5 weeks decided to go back to Apple to ask for a fix or replacement. They weren't able to identify the source of the problem and ordered a new iPad air 2 I should pick up next week. The sound would eventually work only after having turned it off 4 or 5 times. I only hope this won't happen again with my replacement one as it's been quite annoying.

Dec 28, 2014 9:27 AM in response to Emma_esseby Dreanmachine1,I entered into this thread early on and got a replacement iPad Air 2 to resolve my sound issues of popping, loss of sound, screeching etc. I went 1.5 months with the new unit and thought all was resolved. Then one morning, the issues all came back. I was shocked. I went back to Apple and got a third iPad Air 2 unit and did a restore of the recent backup. To my amazement, sound issues right out the gate. I went ahead and reset the iPad Air 2 to factory, and did a manual build up on my system. Although it was a little painful, it was really not too bad. It has been two weeks, and not a sound issue to be seen anymore. I gotta believe that I had some software corruption that was perpetuating. Fingers crossed.

Dec 28, 2014 6:27 PM in response to DGP23by hankaberle,I've had exactly the same problem on my new iPad Air 2. Doing a hard reset was the only way to get back the sound. It would seem to me that since I paid over $700, this sort of problem shouldn't exist. Sounds to me like Apple missed the boat on this one since many other people are complaining about the same problem. Calling tech support is useless. All they'll have you do is reset all the settings on your iPad and you'll have to spend an hour going back to redo all the settings. The guy I spoke to didn't even know what compressed audio sounds like but that's another issue I'm experiencing. I get pops and buzzing when any sound is introduced like an alert or an email. Apple makes me sick. The quality of their products and their customer support stinks!!
