Just restrict your removing files to your Home Folder tree, but stay away from your Home folder -> Library (as things like iPhone backups are there, your email is stored there, etc... - stuff you don't want to delete)
Stay away from files outside your Home folder unless you absolutely know what you are doing, as deciding to delete something outside your home folder may result in deleting essential Mac OS X files and turning your Mac into an expensive "Door Stop".
