Mar 4, 2015 6:45 AM in response to Dbconlinby Oddfamily, excellent work finding this change of list configuration- I should have looked this up earlier - spent the afternoon disconnecting Apple Tv's, routers etc - no thanks to the official line of support. your little scroll list advice was exactly my answer, there it is it's been there all the time!!! No wonder lots of people will not do upgrades.

Mar 11, 2015 1:35 PM in response to db67by CL Rogers,db67 I'm not sure if you resolved your problem or not but I have been working with an iPad 2 (Generation 2 - 2011 Model) and a new Apple TV (A1469 - 2014 Model) and they will not connect to each other through Peer to Peer only.
It appears there is a problem/link with some hardware issue/limitation on iPad, iPhone, and iPod Models which are older than 2012. My iPad 2 has the latest iOS 8.2 and the Apple TV has the latest OS 7.1 but when I turn off the WiFi on my iPad 2 I can't see the Apple TV as a Peer to Peer device but when I turn on the WiFi I can see the Apple TV as a Network Device and can connect to it but not with "Mirroring".
I found an Apple Note on the Apple TV page - http://store.apple.com/us/buy-appletv/appletv that says that only iPad models from 2012 and on can do Peer to Peer with the Apple TV and thus my iPhone 5s, MacBook Pro, iMac, and iPad 4 (Gen 4) can connect in WiFi (network Mode) and in Peer to Peer mode while my iPad 2 can only connect in WiFi (network Mode).
System Requirements - HDMI cable (sold separately).
- High-definition TV with HDMI and capable of 1080p or 720p.
- Wi-Fi (802.11a, b, g, or n) wireless network (wireless video streaming requires 802.11a, g, or n) or 10/100BASE-T Ethernet network.
- iTunes Store account for buying or renting movies, buying TV shows, and buying music.
- iCloud account for viewing photos and videos from iCloud photo stream and movies in iMovie Theater.
- For streaming media from a Mac or PC: iTunes 10.6 or later; iTunes Store account for Home Sharing.
- Peer-to-peer AirPlay requires a Mac (2012 or later) with OS X Yosemite or an iOS device (2012 or later) with iOS 8 and works with Apple TV (model A1469) running Apple TV software 7.0.
- Subscription may be required to access some content.
I would have expected this of the Gen 1 iPad but not the Gen 2 and beyond but at the end of the day I guess it is what it is... so time to hand my Gen 2 to the kids and get a new one... LOL
Hope this helps,
CL Rogers

Mar 11, 2015 5:07 PM in response to CL Rogersby Colt9.4,I too have this same issue. I called Apple and was told to Restore my iPad 2. Didn't work. My Apple TV's work well with the ipad Airs. But when trying to mirroe from ipad 2, no Airplay icon appears. Upgraded to the iOS 8.2 on the ipad 2. Still did not work. And both devices are on the same SSID. Any ideas? Even downgraded my Apple TV to factory settings ( which was also an advice from Apple Support.).
