So I managed to come across a supposedly functional Xserve for a ridiculously low price. Comes with OSX Server 10.2 and 10.1.5, but I have 10.2 installed. Managed to work out some problems with drives and installation but beyond that the only issue was a failed ram module, which has since been removed and replaced, leaving me with 1GB of RAM. It boots and runs fine for a few seconds before crashing to a screen that locks my server and only allows me to hard boot. While I'd thought it to be a hardware problem, everything checks out with Apple Hardware Diagnostics (how I found the dead RAM). Could this be an installation problem with OSX Server 10.2, or another unrecognised hardware issue?
