Q: Airport WiFi issues with united_club

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out why I can't connect to "united_club" wifi properly. I get an IP address via DHCP, however, I can't ping the gateway nor the public DNS.

If I switch over to my Verizon MiFi, I can successfully connect the the internet. After removing the "WiFi" system setting completely and messing around with the underlying config files, as mentioned in some posts, I was able to connect. Now that I'm back in the lounge, nothing works.

This is very strange. Any thought on how to fix this?

I'm running McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac, but did not install the desktop firewall.

Appreciate any hints to get this fixed.

Regards, V.

    Hey there Fr3ddy,

It sounds like you are having trouble accessing a specific Wi-Fi network. I would use the Network Diagnostics to help you resolve or isolate the issue here. This section of the Yosemite Help menu should help you get that done:

Use Network Diagnostics - Mac Help

    Use Network Diagnostics

Use Network Diagnostics to help solve Internet connection problems. If you can’t connect to the Internet, Network Diagnostics opens and walks you through solving the problem.

Use Network Diagnostics to diagnose problems related to your Ethernet, AirPort, or internal or external modem connections. If you are trying to connect to the Internet using another method, see the documentation that came with your Internet account.

If Network Diagnostics can’t resolve the problem, there may be problems with the ISP you are trying to connect to, with an external device you are using to connect to your ISP, or with the server you are trying to access.

If your Internet connection is working properly, but you are trying to connect to the Internet using a different network port configuration, use Network Diagnostics to investigate your network settings.

    1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network.

    2. Click “Assist me,” click Diagnostics, then follow the onscreen instructions.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    All the very best,

    Sterling
