iTunes sees Mp3 files as Mpeg

The latest version of iTunes in its wisdom, sees all my mp3 files as Mpeg files.

I know in the technical sense, mp3 files are "MPEG 1, Layer 3" files, but this means my app Tuneup (the best app for properly name files in iTunes) doesn't recognise the files, and hence does not work since it obviously looks at them through iTunes.

As much as I would love to go back to iTunes 10 (the last one designed for a computer rather than an iPad or iPhone) or even iTunes 11, I am might as well grin an bear it and try to work with iTunes 12.

So, how do I get iTunes to label the songs MP3?

PS I will rant and rave about all the really useful missing features now that Apple has decided everything should be iPad centric some other time.

Timothy, I seem to have a similar problem with one of my tag-editors (Tag). As soon as I try to drag and drop music-files into the editor I get an error like this.

It's not just MP3, but all formats. If you import files throught menu-->file-->open the Tag editor will open the file properly. So it's in communication between iTunes 12 and this editor. However it's not a general problem, because with another tag editor (Music Tag Editor) I can drag files from iTunes 12 drop it in the Music Tag Editor and that works flawless.

This leads me to conclude that makers of Apps like Tuneup and Tags have not updated their Apps to new routines in iTunes 12. I send feedback to the makers of Tags. I let you know what their respons will be.
