Q: Black screen on Apple TV, please help!

When I connect iMac (mid 2011 27' iches, OS X Yosimite 10.10) to Apple TV (3rd generation), on TV I see only black screen. Maybe it is because on Apple TV Wi-Fi signal strength is 4 of 5, but on iMac 5 of 5

Please help!

    Hi alekss12321,

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like you are using AirPlay or AirPlay Mirroring from your iMac to Apple TV.  I know it can be worrying to only see a blank screen when something is supposed to be displayed.

I suggest starting with the troubleshooting tips in these articles:

iTunes: Troubleshooting AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring

    Apple TV: Basic troubleshooting

There are several good steps that can help troubleshoot your Apple TV, and resolve AirPlay connection or playback issues, even if you are using AirPlay from the iMac's toolbar instead of iTunes.

    All the best,

    Jeremy

HHi jeremy, first thanks for your answer but, I think, that is enough. Yosemite AirPlay mirroring is a dissasaster; lags, shuttering, when disconect it and you want to connect again : hello black screen!!! And you must restart the imax for functionality. In Mavericks all work perfect!!! I have bought a atv3 because "this was de problem" the last update of atv3 resolved the problem ... No, lags again ....when a yosemite update to resolved this incredible bug PLEASEEEE!!!
