Q: iPhone 5 sometimes no sound notifications

hi

im missing calls and texts as it sometimes jut doesn't ring or ding for a text message. First I know is when screen says missed call or I can see a text has arrived. It's not a location problem as I can be in the same place. Sometimes works fine and phone will ring and text will ding.

was doing this before iOS8 upgrade and the update hasn't chnaged it.

its not on silent, volume is turned up. Why ring sometimes and not other times.?

very annoying as im missing important calls.

anyone help?

    Hi allyshouse,

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like your iPhone is intermittently not ringinging or playing notification tones. I understand how frustrating it would be to miss calls and have this issue persist.

In addition to checking all of the volume and settings on your iPhone, I recommend these troubleshooting steps next:

    1. Open an app that has music or sound effects. Adjust the volume with the volume buttons or the slider in Control Center.

    2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn off Bluetooth.

    3. If there's still no sound, connect a headset. If you can hear sound through the headset, remove it and clear any dust or debris from the headset jack of your device.

    4. If the device is in a case, make sure that the case doesn't block the speaker.

    5. Use a brush to gently clear any debris from the speaker and Lightning connector (or 30-pin dock connector). The brush should be clean and dry and have soft bristles.

If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker

If the behavior continues after trying all of these steps, the article above suggests contacting Apple Support for more help:

If you followed these steps and still hear no sound or distorted sound, contact Apple Support.

    Best Regards,
