Q: iPhone 6 Plus Connecting and Disconnecting when syncing

I have an iPhone 6 Plus and when I try to sync it to my rMBP it constantly connects then disconnects. I tried using another USB port and the problem seemed to be fixed, but the half way through the sync it disconnected and started constantly connecting then disconnecting. I thought this could be because the phone is using too much power so I turned the phone to airplane mode and reduced the brightness to minimum but nothing.

Thanks in advance!

I connect directly to a near new iMac 5K with no other devices connected through the USB ports. I find it very hard to believe it's power draw in my case. I've had the issue on all USB ports and several cabled including 2 lightning and and two iPod-connector cables with an iPad Air, an iPhone 4s and an iPhone 6 all independently.

Ive had the same issue, and ive read a lot of complicated solutions on this thread. Got in touch with tech support this morning. This is what i was instructed to do. Disconnect your phone and cable. Make another user. Log into that user. Connect the cable and phone. Boom. It works. And surprisingly, when i went back to my original identity, it already works normally as well. I dont know why, but it works.

I was having this same problem, sometimes the phone would connect to a USB port fine and sometimes not.  Sometimes it would go away quickly, sometimes not.  The most recent time it was connected to the same computer & USB port a few hours previously with no problems but freaked out when I tried connecting later.  I tried unplugging the cable and plugging it in again, I tried a different USB port, I tried a different computer & different ports on that computer.  I checked the port on the phone for lint & blew it out with canned air.  Tried yet another computer same deal.  Tried different cable.  Tried turning phone off & back on.  Tried resetting phone.  Nothing seemed to work.

Finally tried turning off phone, connecting phone to computer, turned on phone.   That worked! Thanks nareshkumarv!

This seems like a phone issue & not an issue with the cable, computers or multiple different usb ports.

(using iPhone 6s with ios 9.3.2 & various windows PCs)

Had same issues here with disconecting iphone6 while sync. or file copy. I had to remove "USB to serial converter" device, added few days ago, used for other stuff. Now works fine . So try to disconnect all devices from USB you don't need while sync.

    Thanks Kalanigee!

Plugging it into the USB port next to the Fire-wire port is the step that worked. I jumped to that step and Bingo!

I share the frustration exhibited by some, with respect to getting many replies that do not address the issue, but adding a greater level of detail to the question being posed, often helps. All that answered are just trying to be helpful. We should try not to shoot the messenger, even if what is provided, does not solve our issue.
