Hello, before I "upgrade" to iTunes 12, I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if double clicking on the iTunes title bar minimizes the iTunes window?
For some unknown reason, Apple eliminated this functionality in iTunes 11, even though this is the way every other application/window behaves under OS X and is an option in the Dock. Thanks much for replies.

This behavior is an OS-feature. It depends on system-preferences for the Dock. You can check or uncheck a checkbox to determine what you want. If you have it checked iTunes will minimize. If you have it unchecked iTunes will maximize to the level all info is shown on screen.
Thanks PeterVL57, but I know this. I'm wondering if iTunes 12 conforms to this OS X-level functionality. iTunes 11 does not, and I would be happy if iTunes 12 works in this manner. But before I switch to 12, I'm wondering if Apple restored this double-click title bar functionality in iTunes 12.

Yes, but if an app (iTunes 11 onward) does not have a title bar, you cannot click in the title bar to minimize the app.

iTunes 11 - isn't this a title bar?
It looks the same as (for instance) Activity Monitor. But with Activity Monitor (and every other app with this top bar look), double clicking on the bar minimimes the window. Not so for iTunes 11. So are you saying it just looks like a title bar, but isn't?

No. The title bar would be above the “LCD” display, with the name of the current opened iTunes library (usually simply iTunes).
This is from iTunes 10...
Notice iTunes 11 & 12 have no space above the “LCD" display.
Oh, I see. Thanks Chris CA. Well, time for more negative feedback to Apple. Jeze, what's going on there in Cupertino with the iTunes interface team?
This behaviour has annoyed me in iTunes since it began, but I've never investigated it. If it has to do with the absence of a Title Bar - then go figure how Safari (current version) has no Title Bar and yet minimizes just fine - as do ALL other programs on the Mac that I've ever come across - just not iTunes. Well done the Apple designer who removed this function from iTunes, I'd love to know the reasoning behind it - and why it's never been fixed.
Apple +M still works on iTunes, so it does have the ability to minimise to the dock btw.
