Are there updated drivers? Have you tried deleting and re-adding the printer?
If that fails, you could delete the /Library/Printers/Epson and /Library/Caches/Epson folders and reinstall the drivers through Software Update or Epson Printer Drivers v2.18 for OS X.
Hope this helps.

Apple has the latest driver for the iP4600, so removing the printer and adding it again should trigger an update to obtain the latest driver. If not, then as John has suggested removing the printer folder will help. However as you have a Canon rather than an Epson then the folder for your printer is located in /Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinters. If you trash the contents of this folder (make sure you remove the iP4600 from Printers & Scanners first) and then restart your Mac, when you log back in and try to add the iP4600 via Printers & Scanners, you should get a prompt stating that the driver is available from Apple and do you want to download and install. Agree to this and before long you should be printing again.
Thank you ! 😍

So have you been able to add the printer but it won't print? Or are you not able to add the printer?
I'm not sure if you are getting this message due to the file format used by the Macintosh HD partition or if it's an issue with the Canon driver installer. To rule out the latter, here is a link to another version of the iP4600 driver from the Canon Australia web site. If this version also fails to install as shown above then it could be the format used by the Yosemite partition. To check this, open System Information (located under Applications > Utilities) and select SATA in the left column. The right pane will show all the partitions on the HD. You will see the one labelled Macintosh HD and under it will be an entry called File System. So what file system is being used?
The Australian driver WORKS on Yosemite 10.10.4!!!!
Thanks a lot Mate!!!
Spoke to Canon support. The solution to this is simple, but you wouldn't know it unless you called them ( ). Neither Apple or Canon any longer has a driver for this printer if you are running OS 10.10 or 10.11. But the driver for OS 9 works for both of these OS's. So just download the Canon driver for OS 9, install and print.
Hoorah! This solved the problem I had with a Canon IP4600 not printing after I upgraded to El Capitan.
Thanks very much
