My iPad Air 2 randomly has a "Pop Noise" out of the speaker. it happens randomly about once or twice a day when touching the screen or pressing a button. Has anybody else experienced this issue? Could it be a software issue or has it more likely to do with the hardware?

Well, my unit is production week 43, rbrylawski's unit is a week older. Obviously, production week is no indicator - welcome to the exchange lottery.

According to iFixit's teardown pictures there's not much located in the top left corner. There's the headphone jack, an ambient light sensor, a WiFi antenna and a piece of the battery.

The speakers itself aren't to blame, they just pop coz they get a spike of current from the circuit to which they are connected. That's the part to blame, imho.
Seems psikofunkster, the other people and I bought a ticket for the Titanic.

If there's electrical connections top left, which there appears to be a few, there's the possibly of insulation breakdown !!
Common sense would assume making the Air 2 so thin resulted in possible compromises with insulating materials?
BTW, without reading this whole thread to find it, has anyone posted an experience of having their Air 2 successfully repaired, as opposed to exchanged for a new one? Just curious what might have been found.
A ticket to the Titanic? That might be insulting to someone who's family lost someone in the Titanic. I get that it's annoying, but at least be realistic. The Titanic was a disaster, where many many died. An iPad with a noise, even one that annoys, is hardly an end of life issue.

Oops, I thought it is a saying in the US for bad luck. Actually, I got it from an american book about financial trading. Of course, it wasn't meant as an offense. English is a foreign language to me, phrases are difficult to learn because the context could be missing.
About the issue itself. Yes, it is annoying to some extend, but we're only talking about an electronic gadget. Even when it's expensive there are much more important things in life.

I Also had an iPad Air 2 that would pop when you clicked the text bar on a browser even chrome not just safari took it back and got a replacement I think it has something to do with the charger as my sound on the new iPad was ok today till I plugged the official charger in then it started crackling noises definatEly a hardware issue
Maybe a stupid question, we talked about production weeks... do you think the color plays also a role here? i bought the grey space one, center button is not as firmly as the iphone 6 plus one family member has.
Does any of you has a white gold one who pops too?
Im now on my second ipad air 2 and have just heard it pop. Not again 😟 eexactly the same problem as the first one.

I'm afraid of that, getting a new one with the same problematic or even worst a dead pixel.
After reading this and other threads about iPad Air 2 issues, I was afraid my new Christmas present would be going back due to popping, strange finger ghosting, etc. What I got was one with NO problems (knocking on wood), so have faith everyone who has gotten one that does that you should be able to get an exchange for one that does not ;-). If this was purely a design flaw, wouldn't close to 100% of them have the problems? I say it's more to do with QC problems at Foxcon, trying to make a device with terribly tight tolerances (and due to the thinness, more so than the Air 1) at a breakneck pace. The only true "design flaw" I find is the vibration of the case/screen from almost any music, but think we can live with it.

I Also have a air 2 and I am experiencing that same problem a lot I think it is a software issue

No it is not a a software issue, its a hardware one, that's the reason not everybody is having it, if you think this is a software issue peform a hard reset using iTunes and then use the device.
