Nov 16, 2014 5:18 AM in response to Mr. Fazookusby NOYB234,I know what you mean; "it takes a few cracked eggs to make an omelette." I had problems with the iPhone 4 and they replaced it, the iPhone 5 and they did the same, as they did the MBA. However, I did return two of the iPad Air 2's twice and the third time was the charm. The serial #'s were of a new batch so they may have corrected the issue or they realized the first batch had some flaws. as for the sound issue I never expect the sound quality to be stereo worthy but I do expect when I plug in external speakers the sound to be as intended through the speakers or head phones. One last note after talking with Apple Care I had the impression they were aware of a popping or crackling sounding in the area of their processor. The store Manager when i returned the second set was very apologetic and insisted to tell folks to return any Apple product that is not up to the Apple standard and to go to the iPad feedback site... I wish you the best...

Nov 16, 2014 11:08 AM in response to NOYB234by cptcanuck,I'm within the 14 day window and considering exchanging for a new iPad Air2. A couple of posts mention "The serial #'s were of a new batch". How do you tell if its a new batch and secondly, have you encountered any additional issues with the new iPads? Thanks!

Nov 16, 2014 2:40 PM in response to pantherkentby pantherkent,Just to follow up my original post... I have not heard any further popping sounds from my iPad Air 2 since posting two weeks ago.
I've been surprised to read about so many others who are also hearing a popping sound from their new iPads. I'm curious to hear if anyone else's popping has not returned after those first few pops.

Nov 16, 2014 4:01 PM in response to Mais78by Mr. Fazookus,Nice! That's it exactly, sounds like a static discharge to me but I suspect that much current in something like this would fry it completely so it's probably just noise.
I find very difficult and sometimes impossible to enter text here with my iPad... is it only me?
I had 5 saved sessions from the 5 times I tried and was unable to complete maybe 2 messages here... I guess this might be another topic.
PS I'm writing this with my computer. I'm thinking I should bail out of iPads and just get a macbook air.

Nov 16, 2014 5:06 PM in response to Mr. Fazookusby Tom70,It's not just you Mr. Fazookus. Trying to post to this site using my ipad is a nightmare. Search or start a topic elsewhere so as not to confuse things here.

Nov 16, 2014 5:10 PM in response to pantherkentby Tom70,I haven't had any popping noises for a week now. Haven't done anything to cause this. I'm not prepared to call it FAIBM (fixed as if by magic) just yet though as I have only been using it an hour or two a day.

Nov 17, 2014 6:47 AM in response to Mr. Fazookusby NOYB234,Same here as far as texting or any typing goes it seems unresponsive and very difficult to move the cursor. I have resorted back to my MBA to type.

Nov 17, 2014 7:15 AM in response to Garth1988by andrestb,on my third iPad Air 2 128 LTE - the second did not have a pop problem.... but the sound went out completely (once per week) and the only way to get it back was to do a restore from backup...... looks like dodgy speaker capacitors...... hopefully my third comes from a fresh batch.... any one know where I can get a serial list to see if the new one comes from a new batch?
-
Nov 17, 2014 7:23 AM in response to andrestbby andrestb, there may be a 40% chance is not only a dodgy capacitor but the firmware connecting the device to it...... maybe there is a chance they can fix this w software (this is my take on it) waiting on the third will try to see if it comes from a new 'batch' based on serial
