Q: iPad air 2 pop noise

My iPad Air 2 randomly has a "Pop Noise" out of the speaker. it happens randomly about once or twice a day when touching the screen or pressing a button. Has anybody else experienced this issue? Could it be a software issue or has it more likely to do with the hardware?

AppleCare just shipped mine back and said they couldn't find the problem... This is ridiculous.. Never buying another Apple product ever again...

Chances are that the next iPads after this will have the same problem. including the iPad Air 3 & iPad Pro...

I wonder if the only way to fix it is to take the speakers out of an Air1 and put them in the Air2?

Fair enough.  But I'll check back in a few weeks and I'm pretty confident I won't have any issues with my Air 2.

Almost a week now with new Air 2 and absolutely no popping sounds.  I've pushed it pretty hard too, so I'm pretty sure I don't have any issues.

Thanks, my first one was week 41 and popped, second one week 44 and popped. Third one is again week 44 but hasnt popped yet after 10 days of use. Maybe they fixed the issue sometime during week 44? I ll stick to my third one in any case, got a nice 3 yrs warranty.

Sure thing.  If you haven't heard anything in several days, it would seem you're in good shape.

Way to go. I am glad it worked out for you. I bought two and they both made the noise returned them and they both are working fine. My wife and I use them for work so we use them from sun up to sun down no problems. I really like the speed and new screen. I hope everyone who exchanges get a good production week. I do not think this is a software issue thou. My first two were doing all kind of things from flickering screens, delayed game play, a lot of long white or blank screens, freezing, etc...

Apple did say earlier this year that they were having production problems and they were going to release them early 2015. Maybe they will upgrade the iTV and the release a MacBook Air 12" retina. really looking forward to the Apple Watch. Happy holidays...

Bought mine 28-10. Returned it the same day. The sound was loud and popping and volume controls where not working. The new iPad was fine.

Now after almost a month of use the new one has the same problem. when I test the system sound it pops and the volume is always loud. Going back to another application after testing the sound, say youtube, there is a popping noise and sound sounds like it coming from a can.

So 10 days of use is not really an assurance it will not happen again.

Than again maybe the problem is solved in a new hardware revision..

At least I can replicate the issue. I will go back to the store today en get it replaced.

I just got mine and third day in I hear the popping sounds as many of you out there have. Since there are 19 pages now on this thread, I haven't got the time to read each and every reply, but has anyone else on top of the popping sound recieved an electrical static pulse into your hand as your holding it? (This is while it is NOT plugged in or charging.) The popping I suppose I can deal with, but the static or electric current into my hands as I hold the thing? Not acceptable.

I also think at some point it will pop but the previous two I could make them pop easily by clicking in and out a textbox, I aslo posted a video. This one I couldn't make it pop so far. Honestly if it pops once every two weeks I'd rather keep it, it is worth the extra year of warranty I got on the third one.

Are you sure it's not just the sharp vibration from the speaker you are feeling rather than an electric shock?

I can feel a current run into my hand sometimes, especially while the speakers are constantly being used (like when I was watching a video just now). And then when I go to touch something else in my house that is conductive to electricity, I get shocked. It's kinda like when you drive your car around and get out and touch the door and get a zap. Just like that.
