Q: iPad air 2 pop noise

My iPad Air 2 randomly has a "Pop Noise" out of the speaker. it happens randomly about once or twice a day when touching the screen or pressing a button. Has anybody else experienced this issue? Could it be a software issue or has it more likely to do with the hardware?

When they give you an answer like that, ask to speak with a supervisor.  There's an old saying........."the squeaky wheel get's greased."  You're being squeaky in the wrong place.  And that's on this forum, where no one can fix this for you.  Be more squeaky with Apple Customer Support.

Thx gonna try again tomorrow i guess.

Today first i talk with an Apple representative via chat, then they called me by phone that second person transfered me with a third person, that third person asked his supervisor and he only give her that option for me.

Well she gave me another one first, to send the ipad to the States! LOL! on Christmas holidays!

Should i demand for an immediate replacement no more no less? Do you really think that would work?

I mean here is Mexico, Apple doesn't make replacements between the first 14 days like in the States for example, i truly truly doubt they are gonna give me a new one...things here are "special", "special treatment".

There's another old saying which says......"you attract more bees with honey!"  By that I mean be as sweet as you can be.  If the first person says there's nothing they can do for you, you should as nicely as possible ask to speak to that person's supervisor, if that supervisor says they can't do anything, ask again, as nicely as you can to speak to that person's supervisor.

When you explain what the issue is, be nice, but also firm that the popping noise is alarming and you're afraid to use your device.  Explain that you are not alone if they say they've never heard of the issue.  If you need, direct them to this thread.

Again, be very very nice.  Thank you each time they offer to do anything.  You'll get your device replaced this way.  And hopefully, like my device, you won't have any issues and you'll enjoy your iPad.

Thanks man, gonna try tomorrow but they definitely want to check it first, its not gonna be easy to replicate the issue unless they are very very careful and pay attention in silence, i don't think those conditions exist on a workshop.

I Agree 100%. Although at first the Geniuos Bar Techs were scepticle of my popping iPad Air 2 I demonstrated and it did not pop but then the Tech took it and started to scroll through my settings to see if it was a setting issue and it popped. He looked at the back of my iPad and asked is that what I was referring to and I said yes. He then stated that is a static discharge sound. He then started to look at my other iPad Air 2 I was returning as well it did not do it but he took them to the back and after a long wait he brought two new ones out to me. He scanned them and told me to monitor them for the same issue and if it does it with the new ones to return them immediately. I got home unbooxed them and began to set both of them up and sure enough they gave a static discharge sound In the same place. I called Apple Customer Care and scheduled a Genious Bar Appt., and they took them to the back and sure enough the Tech came out and said it was hardware related and offered me another option or a refund. I took the other option and bought another MBA.

    GOOD LUCK and happy holidays.

I turned of "Search my iPad" in preferences and deleted all Podcasts in the podcast-App. Since that my iPad stopped to make that Noise.

Thanks, but I'm not sure why this was replied to me?  I'm very aware of what 8.1.2 was supposed to address.

    rbrylawsky,

I was just supporting your earlier statement regarding the latest update to another person! In addition, some folks are waiting on a specific fix to this issue and I wanted to point out this latest update does not support it. Finally, you were the last person to post in here. Kept it simple.

I would like to stay on topic too. Don't want t get into a meaningless back and forth about points and nonsense that does not support the issue or is not respectful. Folks really need help and they are very frustrated no reason to add fuel to the fire.

Problem: Popping noise when touching the iPad Air 2, or random popping noise from the iPad Air 2, etc...

Solution to this point: If your iPad Air is making any kind of popping noise please return it for it should not make that noise and other iPad Air 2's are not experiencing the same thing. Any solution other than that would be helpful.

If you do an exchange and your new iPad Air 2 does not pop I believe some folks have asked for the production week number.

In addition if you are experiencing this issue please report it as well to: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

Happy Holidays and I hope everyone success with your iPads!

    1. Those of us who go for an exchange and hope the replacement doesn't have the same issues will be looking for at least a different batch. Does this relate to the production week, and if so does anybody know what the best week range is? I imagine later production the better.

    2. Is the replacement a full retail pack or just the device?. With this particular issue I would like to have the charger replaced too.

    shock,

Sorry so late with this answer and hopefully you simply called Apple customer Care and set up a Genius Bar Appt., if you experiencing this issue.

    1. The later the better but really not all early iPad Air 2's had this issue. That is why if you just bought one and it is doing this you call Apple Customer Care and set up an appt.

    2. If you bought your iPad Air 2 with in 14 days it is a full return for a new one or you can get a refund. Apple, in my area offers a holiday return policy; If you bought your iPad Air 2 after November 1st you have 30 days to return it for a full refund or new exchange. Again the first step should be to call Apple Customer Care and then go from there.

I hope this has helped and the best of luck.

    2. If you bought your iPad Air 2 with in 14 days it is a full return for a new one or you can get a refund (make sure to bring the original box and supported power adapter and lighting charging cord). Apple, in my area, offers a holiday return policy; If you bought your iPad Air 2 after November 1st you have 30 days to return it for a full refund or new exchange. Again the first step should be to call Apple Customer Care and then go from there. In addition the return policy is printed on the back of your receipt. The link below should direct you to more information regarding Apple's return and refund policy for the US.
